Can Large People Ride The Coasters?

I've been reading lots of posts about how large people might not be able to ride the coasters. Most of the posts I've seen are regarding the Millenium Force. I was wondering if rides like the Blue Streak and the Mine Ride can fit a large-sized woman. I'm about a size 24 in pants and am exercising my butt off until I go to CP in August. I'm really hoping that I'll be able to ride some of the coasters that I grew up on. Anybody who is as large as I am been able to ride the coasters?

Blue Streak the padded seats make for a very tight fit even for a normal person. Mine Ride you just have to worry about the seatbelt fitting accrost you and the person next to you. I am not the master of the size of people riding the rides (if that makes sense). I just know how short the belts are on Dragster and Millienium Force for me.

You mainly have to worry about Millenium Force and Dragster, there the 2 with the smallest restraints. I am about a size 20/22 and could not do the seat belts myself on those 2 coasters. The dragster people had no problem hooking my restraint, they were fine with it, MF people on the other hand were kind of idiots about it. My main problem was that i couldnt reach down right to hook it myself, if it was in the front i wouldnt have had problems. I did get on all the coasters though. I dont see you having problems with any other coaster there, even though there are signs saying you have to do your own restraints, i have seen most of the Ops help people. Have fun. :)

You're lucky the employees helped you fasten your restraint. Technically, the rule is the rider has to be able to secure their own restraint without help, and if they can not then they are not permited to ride.

I always helped people out. I just told them to take a deep breath. We didnt have to help them though.

You forgot to add Wicked Twister, Raptor, and Mantis (tightest to loosest)
if you have a large chest you will have problems with these. All the rides mentioned except the Mine Ride and Blue Streak have test seats though.

Well i am VERY large in the bust, and had no problems with wicked twister, raptor or mantis. And other than MF, i didnt see any ride ops having problems with helping people get there restraints hooked. There is no reason they cant help people out a little. I have never seen those signs at any other park i have been too. But was very happy with the majority of the workers there, i love cedar point. :)

^Except for the fact that people have been ejected from rides that have the exact same trains as MF....

And Blue Streak and CCMR usually have short enough lines that waiting and not fitting won't be a waste of too much time.

I think you'll be fine on Gemini and Corkscrew, as well as Maverick, Skyhawk and likely Maxair. I have ridden Raptor and am quite chesty. I have no issues with Mine Ride either, though I haven't ridden Blue Streak since the seats were reconfigured. Good luck.

Also, check trip reports, a poster named LadyJerrico has posted about her experiences riding recently. Heh, we should blog for plus size thrill seekers, this question gets asked a lot.

Thanks for all of your answers. I'm really hoping I'll be fine by the time I go at the beginning of August.

I've been doing Turbo Jam in the morning and the treadmill in the afternoon. I've also been following the Curves diet. I'm not trying to sell anything here, but the Curves diet really works. If you have questions about it, let me know and I'll tell you the name of the book that has all of the information. You can find them really cheap on E-Bay and don't have to belong to Curves to follow it.

Anyway, I've already been able to tell a difference in my clothes. I have 3-1/2 weeks before going to to CP. I plan on working as hard as possible until then so I can ride the rides.

I'm the same size you are 20/22, I have trouble with WT (my belly is too big) and probably Millinum and TTD. I haven't tried the seat in either one of those because of all the threads people are saying you have to be small in the stomach, but it's up to you, but as for me I avoid those coasters.

I'm able to fit 9 of them (so far), Mean Streak, Maverick, Gemini, Iron Dragon, WildCat (but I need to sit in the back on that one), Corkscrew, CCMR (it's a tight fit, but I can ride), Raptor and Disaster Transport.

I haven't been on the Magnum since it opened. It just scares the crap out of me too much, but I'll be working on it come fall. (I can finally do SkyHawk, so my fear probably won't be in me forever).

Good luck with your weight loss. I managed to lose 33 pounds myself, I'm not on Weight Watchers or Curves or anything, I just get some advice from friends and watch everything I eat.

^ Magnum is not a friend of the large busted . :) Make sure you have good support if you know what i mean. :) I have rode steel force many times at Dorney park, which is built almost like magnum, and magnum is much more forceful. Steel Force is pretty smooth. I like it alot, but the air time can be insane in the back on Magnum. :)

Thanks for your advice about the Magnum. I'm sure I'll lose more weight before my next trip there. I'm not going again until after Labor Day when the kids are back in school. I just don't like to go to CP on hot crowded days.

It's nice they are open until November 3rd (a day before my birthday), I've already been to CP 5 times this year, so I definatly got my moneys worth out of my season pass.

Well, I'm not that normal and I actually found Blue Streak quite roomy this year!?!

Well, I live in Florida so I want to be sure to have the best chance at riding the coasters. Last time I was at CP was 9 years ago when I was pregnant so I was unable to ride ANYTHING at that time. I sure would love to be able to ride the rides with my kids like my parents did with me.

I'm not chesty by any means so most of my weight is in my belly, butt and thighs. I'm also 5'9" so my weight is evenly distributed. I think my height is going to help getting on some of these rides. I don't have all of my weight in 1 area.

^^If you're over 200 lbs. you probably won't make it...

Let's hope you're wrong. LOL

I'm willing to give it a try. If I don't make it, I won't make it. I won't be humiliated. Better to try it and know than to not try at all. Keep your fingers crossed that I'll be able to ride some of them. Most of them scare me too much to ride them anyway.

^^Well, there are test seats you can try. I know a lot of women have problems with Wicked Twister as well. But you'll fit fine on the best coaster in the park, Maverick, at least!! (and the 2nd best with Magnum!)

I've read a lot of posts where people who are larger than the "guidelines" have no problem getting on the rides. Hopefully the same will be true for me too.
