can I use my passport instead of social security card?

I cannot locate my SS card, and I will not be able to get a new one in time for my process in date. I will be able to use my passport instead, correct?

Call human resources. They are the only ones who can answer this.

Legally the are required to accept a passport as a single version of ID for the tax documents. Though the SS card is for internal use so they can still require it.

As Red Garter Rob said call HR and ask them. Though you may want to make sure you talk to a supervisor, a lot of the seasonal staff may not know beyond what they are told. "Get a SS card from everyone!"

Yes, legally either can be used for ID purposes under federal law.

However the SS card is needed for the payroll department.
