My most recent park that was new for me was Little Amerricka. I don't remember if I heard it on all the coasters or not (certainly not Toboggan) But, while ridding the Little Dipper and Meteor, I specifically remember the Ride Op saying something like, "Keep your hands and feet inside the vehicle at all times, you can put your arms up but don't stick them out." I only say this because I don't ever remember ever hearing it said quite like that.
On a side note, Even though it's not a thrilling ride, Meteor looks great in the park and is quite smooth (It will likely stay that way due to the low intensity of the ride. Over all I really liked the atmosphere at the park and felt the staff was very nice, friendly and sociable. A lady running a kiddie bounce saw I was wearing a coaster shirt and started asking me all kinds of questions. We probably talked for 10 minutes. I say it's defiantly a worthwhile side trip between the Dells and Chicago.

I was on Magnum 2 years ago and the same thing happened. I was heading out for the night and decided to hit the coaster for one last ride of the day. My family chose to sit this one out so I went it alone. We right at the top of the lift hill and it stopped. The ride op came running up and spoke with some guests at the front of the train about taking pictures. Now how did they know there was a camera on board that time of night unless they notice some flashes or I was curious if they have some kind of cameras of thier own along the lift hill to keep an eye on this kind of stuff? Also at the end of the ride they did have security waitng right off the platform to speak with the guest as well. Needless to say I'm glad my wife and daughter sat that out because they would have totally freaked out.
^ Don't they have cameras mounted to the top of the lift? They probally have a night mode that allows them to see in the dark.

This happened on the Gemini as well when I was riding it.
Than on the 28th some tard was filming on Magnum as well. The ride ops didn't do crap though and I even told Craig (who posts on the board here).
It was at night though so the chances of them seeing him we're slim.
It used to say in CP's Ride Operations manual that stopping a ride on the lift to retrieve a camera was creating a situation more dangerous than the camera would itself. Makes sense to me. You've got freaked out guests and some poor sap hoofing it up the stairs. I'd be curious to know if if that's still in there becuase sometimes hosts seem to get off over running out and yelling at someone with a camera.
When I was in charge we only stopped the lift if we saw someone trying to stand. Other than that, let it go. If we saw a camera in the station, we told them to put it away. If we saw them taking pics, we scolded them upon return.
Of course, this was also a much different time when we let people take just about anything they wanted with them on the ride.

I was on Thunder Falls and someone was warned about taking pictures. I noticed they have more than one survalence camera along the ride. Since he was taking pictures again, they gave him a stern warning when the ride was over.
Its not uncommon that we stop the lift on Mantis for a camera or cell phone since we have easy access to our lift. Usually when someone spots someone getting something out of their pocket a ride host calls a hold and the person in controls stops the train on the lift. Then whatever rides hosts are in positions closest to the lift are sent up to the train to do a double check of seatbelts and make sure the loose article is put away. If they then take their camera or cell phone out again then security may be called or we remind them of the policy and the consequences when they return to the station.

I also got stopped at the top of THE magnum's hill when some dude pulled out his fancy camera at the top. We thought it was a breakdown at first, but then the employee came up and talked to the guy way up front. I was on the very back, but he told the whole train that "no cameras please" on the train. But it was fun sitting up there however.
ALMOST as stupid as the idiot during CoasterMania Raptor ERT in seat 1-1 filming the entire ride. Unfortunitely for him we were 2 rows behind him and could see the whole thing. When we got into the runway he put his camera back in his fannypack (an enthusiast with a fanny pack **gasp!** I know) and as soon as the train came into the station my friend Adam told the ride ops that he filmed the whole ride. They called security, but some how the jerk was allowed to stay in the park :(
You really have to be some sort of dumba** to film a ride on a ride that films you the WHOLE ride.
As for the Gemini camera incident-the ride ops on the platform are supposed to look at the train when it is pulling out of the station to look for any undone seatbelts or idiot guests with cameras, cells, etc out. It is obvious one of the ride ops (or maybe one of the guests) saw someone pull a camera out or even start taking pics when the train left the station. Hense the reason the op didnt know exactly where the guest was (guest: "they're sitting in the back" ride op: "they're in seat 8-2") they just knew someone was seen with a camera.
Once that happens, the only place to stop the train is the lift to check.
Guests are specifically told to secure loose articles, and also that picture taking is strickly prohibited. What's so hard to understand about that?

It's all about getting around the barrels, or over the fences, right leads, no faults, fastest time and looking pretty when done. What's so hard about that?
Hi i am new here, I live closer to Dorney Park, but i have recently become a fan of cedar point and wanted to talk to people with similar feelings.
My comment on this policy is that it is a pretty good policy on most rides, but i dont think its a very good one on the sky ride. Its a great ride to see the park and lake, and you cant take pics ? That dont make sense. I dont remember seeing a sign for it, but do they have that policy for the train as well ? I thought i saw alot of people with cameras out on the train, and nobody said anything.
Thanks. :)
Nobody wants to get a camera dropped on their head from 90 feet. People become morons when they get a camera and try to hold it out for the 'better picture' or worse yet, standing up in the cabin.
With that said, when I worked Skyride we didn't bother yelling at people for taking pictures. We didn't really care.
^^Policies change from year to year, but last time I checked, on ride photography was only allowed on 3 rides: CP&LE Railroad; Paddlewheel Excursions; and Space Spiral.

^Isn't it also allowed on Skyride? What happens if you are caught taking pictures on a ride, beside getting yelled at? Are they allowed to confiscate your digital camera or camcorder?
Ashley
An inverted coaster is like a ski lift gone haywire!!
No, they are not allowed on Skyride, at least according to the policy.
They cannot confiscate your camera/camcorder. They can however have security escort you from the premises without refund.
Goodbye MrScott
John
^Unless you are blatantly disobeying the policy or you continue to ignore their warnings, they'll likely just remind you of the policy and give you a warning. Otherwise it's possible they could call security.

Seeing someone with a camera on a ride would absolutely infuriate me. I'm hyper sensitive about head injuries becuase my mom died of one and a blunt object hitting you in the head at a high speed or falling on your head from a couple hundred feet can cause coma and permanant brain damage. Its not funny, and a picture is not worth the risk of injuring someone.
