I was riding Gemini and some lady in the back seat had a camera and was filming the ride. We got to the lift hill and were about halfway up, then they just stopped the lift hill and one of the ride op's came running up and asked if anyone had a camera. (Of course the lady hid it) Anyways don't you think that was a little to much to just stop the ride like that. Especially since the lady was in the backseat.
No.
The rules (and thusly Ohio State Law) state that camera's are prohibited. What would have happened if she dropped the camera and it hit one of the prox sensors? That would have shut the entire ride down until maintenance could fix it, all thanks to one idiot who can't follow rules.
I'd have pointed her out, and suggested security be waiting on the platform to remove her from the park, sans camera.

I'm suprised they stopped the ride if they didn't actualy see the person with the camera. This happened when I was on Blue Streak. A father an son were riding in front of me with their camera out. The ride op told him he couldn't take it on the ride so the guy put it in his pocket. Half way up the hill, he took it back out and as one might expect the ride ops stopped the train. Up the hill he comes and tells the guy again that he has to put it away. I was glad to see he didn't try taking it out again.

I suppose it's possible a park guest said something, but would a ride-op E-Stop based on what G.P. says?

No, actually I think their actions were completely appropriate. Simply stated, she broke the law. It doesn't matter if she's in the front seat or the last seat, rules/laws aren't seat specific.

If breaking the law was always reason enough to stop a ride then no ride would ever make it up the lift hill since people don't always hold on like the signs and ride ops tell them to.
Can you point to one sign that states you must "hold on at all times" during the ride?
They say you must keep all arms and legs inside the vehicle at all times but since you're not putting your arms or legs forward, backward or to the sides it doesn't break the "law".
On the other hand, there absolutely is signage that you can not have loose articles on the ride and since it's posted it's part of Ohio law.
Section 1711.551 of the Revised Code requires that riders
must obey all warnings and directions regarding this ride and behave in a manner that will not cause or contribute to injury to themselves or others. Failure to comply is a misdemeanor.
The only ride I can think of that continuously breaks this rule would be Dragster since they specifically tell you to hold on.
