Cable Break (Again)

cedarpointlover, Im not saying im a mechanic that can fix the ride, because I am definately not. Dragster is new technology, and I as well expect it to have problems, but problems with a CABLE, that has been around for years, is just puzzling. All I am saying is, if we can go to the moon, why can't we solve this problem about preventing a cable from breaking like this? If there is a mechanic on this site that repairs the dragster, give me a complex explanation on why this can't be acheived, and then I will completely understand. I also find that "TTD" status" on cedar point's website, is completely unnecesary because it says the same thing every day...has it ever changed?

thank you.....and enjoy your record breaking ride on Millennium Force!

they should make on out of carbin fiber that some strong stuff
Translation? "They should make one out of carbon fiber. That's some strong stuff!"

And no, I am not a teacher.

I'm surprise CP was able to get the ride up and running so soon. I though it took a few days. This is just another example of the ride being open more. If this happened last year the ride would just now be opening or even later. Now it takes 8 hours or so. No one gives TTD a chance to prove itself as a reliable ride. Every time something breaks on the ride people bash the ride like they don't enjoy riding it. Things only get better with time. The ride is still brand new and ahead of its time.

Does anybody know which one keeps breaking? One of the two that launch the train or the 1 cable that returns the catch car?
Maybe people should stop making excuses for the ongoing TTD downtime problems.

Sure it's a relatively new ride, but come on, after more than a year, it still seems prone to gremlins.

Sure, rides experience difficulty, but TTD has been regularly frustrating PAYING CUSTOMERS for the better part of two seasons.

And please don't try to tell me that it's OK since there are so many other dandy things to do at CP. This fall-back position is ringing rather hollow these days.

Gomez, I do enjoy the ride, but it does me no good if it's NOT RUNNING!!!!

Gomez, what do you mean by no one gives TTD a chance to prove itself as a reliable ride? This thing has had plenty of chances. This is the second season of operation and the uptime has increased, but not by any leaps and bounds. This thing has more breakdowns than a guest on the Dr. Phil show. Funny how people have bashed SFMM for X, but when it comes to their precious CP, it's all good and breakdowns are expected. No one afforded SF this kind of treatment.
It's different when people acctually get hurt on the ride (metal shavings). It's all about people's saftey at CP, and I don't know about SFMM.
I was not referring to just the cables breaking. There have been more problems with Dragster than just the cable.
Yeah, I know that. Still it's about the people's saftey. It's as simple as that so deal with it.
Is this how you defended SFMM? Not many people gave them any kind of a break when it came to X.
Oh well.
I wonder if the history of X would read differently if it was built at CP? I used to have a different answer to that question before TDD came into the picture. I think the rides have a lot in common, unfortunately. :(

I hate when people rant on about how annoying this is getting. Cedar Point wanted something new, thats what they got. I say, the day YOU can fix it, is the day you can complain about it.

Actually, the day(s) I pay 40 bucks in admission to ride the world's fastest coaster is the day I can complain about it.

Who acctually pays the $43.95? There are a TON of ways to get a discount. You would have to live in a hole not to know that there are a ton of ways to get at least $10 off.

You can always call and ask them if its up and running before you enter the park.

Pepsi had a discount a while back for $10.00 off Regular Admission.

They put that new thing on there website that I have only seen say the same thing every day. "Top Thrill Dragster will be in operation today...and so on". I understand that ttd is new and this system has never been tested except for xcellorator but thats just a fraction of the force they needed to get ttd to speed. The system was bassically untested. Thats like taking an omish guy and telling him to put a computer togeather piece by piece and it better work the first time. (No offense to the omish) I just really hope there is a solution. But im sure if there was a solution to the freaquent cable break they would have thought of it by now. *** Edited 8/23/2004 1:27:32 AM UTC by FunkyJive***

What the hell is "omish"?

*Amish- An orthodox Anabaptist sect that separated from the Mennonites in the late 17th century and exists today primarily in Ohio and southeast Pennsylvania......Electrical devices: They do not use electricity, or have radios, TV sets, personal computers, computer games, etc

Thats why Funky is relating to the Amish.

Funky, your right, the system was untested. Although, the amusment world does not run like the FDA. *** Edited 8/23/2004 2:25:48 AM UTC by cedarpointlover*** *** Edited 8/23/2004 2:29:04 AM UTC by cedarpointlover***
