Bringing a Bag

I'm going on my first trip to CP this June. (Whoo hoo!) I'm going to have a lot of stuff to lug around, so I'm bringing a tote bag. I'm not going on any roller coasters, but I am going on many thrill rides. Are there any problems with brining a bag? How about on water rides?

You should just rent a locker in my opinion.

Have fun on your first trip there! :) My very first trip I got addicted instantly. lol. When you get back we will probably be seeing more of you around here.

But yeah like oldrestless said, I would just rent a locker. Because most of the ride ops don't like you keeping things like that by them until you are off of the ride. And you are definately going to be having fun! So lugging that thing will probably become a pain. The good news is, they do pretty much have lockers all spread out through the park. Anyways, have fun! :)

What kind of stuff are brining to "lug around"? Is it stuff that could be left in the car and gotten just when you need it?

Cell phone, iPod (for the bus ride, it's a school trip), and my camera.

New plan: I'm going to completely skip the camera and just use my cell phone to take pictures. I'll just put my cell and iPod in my pockets.

What kind of iPod is it? If its a hard drive version (Classic or Touch, Im pretty sure minis are flash but not sure) I would strongly suggest not bringing it on a coaster. All those rapid changes in Gs is likely to seriously screw up the hard drive, especially if you accidentally bump it and have it on when on the ride (yes i know it has a hold button too, but you can accidentally bump that too.)

Leave the iPod with your bag on the bus (I assume it will be locked) or if you dont trust it there, get a locker.

Touchdown, I did not know that the g forces could mess up your iPod. Now I know that I will be leaving my brand new iPod Touch with a non rider! All that money, down the drain! I'm glad you posted that!

An inverted coaster is like a ski lift gone haywire!!

Touch won't be affected unless you really bump the screen and crack it (not likely). The touch uses flash memory, which is solid state and has no moving parts. The HDD's used in the older ipod models have lots of moving parts than can cause problems if they are jostled too much. I don't think a coaster would do much to them unless you have it playing and REALLY knock it around (like by dropping it from 200 feet).

Oh, okay. I don't really plan on listening to music while I am on TTD...So I doubt I will have any issues!

I always thought the head was disengaged when you had the iPod off.

I have been using my ipod mountain biking for years now and have never had any problems at all. I have also had a few good wrecks while it was on too. If you have it in a good silicone case, it will provide some good shock absorption and it also helps keep it from slipping out of you pocket. I don't think you would have any problems bringing you ipod on any of the rides other than maybe Mean Streak ;)

I wore out my laptop hard drive in a little over a year by having it in the car, subjecting it to all of the potholes.

Hard drives + G forces just do not mix.

I haven't seen any research on it, but I would think that would depend on the speed at which the g-forces are reached. Wildcat, which is very high g-forces in a very short period of time would have a greater effect than say MF which gradually builds up to the g-forces. Its the bouncing that causes more problems than anything.

But since it would seem apple is moving away from HDD to flash, that won't be a problem much longer.
