breaks (jr)

omg, i totally just heard you dont get breaks if you work at Johnny Rockets!!! WHAT!?!?!

What do u do? Last summer, I'd eat breakfast but be starving by 3. What about a smoke break! How can you possibly be expected to work an O-C with NO break!!!

I'm worried i'm gonna have a cranky summer. But atleast i'll shed my winter lining and cut down on smoking. O wait, i'll need to smoke a pack after work cuz i'm so frustrated!

ARGH!!!

You don't get any breaks so you BETTER GET BUSY on quitting smoking.

*wink wink*

Seriously, you will get enough breaks (1 hour total for an 8 hour shift over here), but smoking kills and don't you forget that. Quit.

Yea - I think its law that you have to have one hour of break per eight hours worked. I think someone is yankin' your chain! :)

Breaks? haha. Actually, food people don't get quite as many breaks as ride operators do. And they are not required to have breaks, although once the park is fully staffed you will be required to have time (unless of course you are a supervisor..lol). As for smoke breaks, good luck on that one. Unless the restaurant is extremely slow, you will most likely not be able to take smoke breaks. Not to mention that after your smoke break you get to scrub your hands for 20 seconds. Last season, only one of my employees smoked. And she was not given smoke breaks. She did not however take a regular break, so she would take a few short smoke breaks during the day and would still be counted down for having a regular break (foods, but not johnny rockets, uses time sheets where the supervisor records hours work, instead of the time clocks used by other departments).

We also had a few short staffed days where the workers would get "vending machine breaks"...go to the machine, buy a snack, eat it quickly, and come back to work. Always made sure if my workers were hungry they got some food, but could not always give them a full length break.

Expect 1 break per shift, once the park is staffed enough. 2 breaks in a shift, no matter how long the shift, is unheard of unless you are a green tag.

i guess i was spoiled in rides. a 45 a 30 and 15. how nice.

And I really didnt mean 'smoke breaks' just meant a break where i could get my smoke on. heh.

anywho... since we're all in the same boat, i guess i can deal with it.

one week :)

ALL of our workers get breaks, and unit sups work out their own breaks. If they want to split their hour into two half hours it's generally alright as long as they tell us about it.

You can get a quick smoke in generally as well every once in a while.

CP is actually pretty good at adhering to the letter of the law. Heck I used to put off my break until the last half hour of work!!!! So most hash slingers will get the proper breaks!
I'm a really big fan of skipping my break and getting out an hour or whatever early. Ususally when I go on break for the full hour I just get tired, which makes it tougher to get back on my feet and walk another 20 miles.
