Brakes on Mean Streak

Never being on any other woody other than BS and MS so I can't really compare. But, I like Mean Streak, sure the trims make the first drop boring but I don't ride MS for speed but for the thrill of a hundred wooden beams passes me a feet away.

I was just at CP this last friday and Sat and I have to tell you that they did something different to the breaks on the lift of the Mean Streak. I noticed a definite difference from the last time I rode it in July. They didn't break as hard and we flew over the first banked turn like it used to when it first opened. When I was leaving Campers Village today, I noticed that it wasn't running as fast as it did the night before. Then I saw the yellow train go and it flew....I don't really know what that means just that the controllers of the brakes seems to let the train go faster whenever they want.

Why do they have "breaks" on the lift? Couldn't they just stop the chain?

Also, pay attention, class:
BREAK = something falls apart or malfunctions. Example: a pane of glass BREAKS.
BRAKE = something used to slow something down. Example: a car has BRAKES.

JHCA!

Sorry my mistake...the brakes are right after the lift hill on the way down on the first hill.
I was there Saturday (23rd) and the Brakes were defenatly not working how they used to. The ride was nice and rough like it was a few years ago! It was one of the best rides I had on Mean Streak, and defenatly worth the long half hour wait. I hope when I go again they still got the brakes off... :)

I hope they never come back! Serously, it takes alot of the fun and roughness a wooden coaster should have. >:|

Courage is not the absence of fear. It is over comming it.

I too rode Mean Streak on Saturday. NO BRAKES! I can't even begin to descibe how awesome the ride was. They need to keep it that way! It was defin. a top five woodie on Sat!
