Boneyard!!!Whats that???

I don't want to sound stupid in all, but when i was looking at OLDDDDDDDDDD topics from GTTP people where talking about a Cedar Point boneyard! Whats is this so called boneyard, and does any1 have any pictures of it!? If so Please post the information, i have been looking all over for this information and can't seem to find one single bit of it. Also when your at Cedar Point where can you see the boneyard from, like what rides and so forth. Well thankx fro any information you can provide me with!!!
Go on Mean Streak and before you hit the MCBR look to the left and there it is. It has 2 Gemini trains and 2 CCMR trains

"any1" is not a word. Spell it out or your posts will magically disappear and you'll get rabies.

The boneyard proper was the area now occupied by Lighthouse Point. You could really only see it from Mean Streak. It's essentially the on-property junk yard, though it has been known to contain things like Millennium Force coaster track before it was announced (got a great photo somewhere I should re-post).

The boneyard now is the area behind the Boneville props of the southeast half of the train.

I can remember the original boneyard containing the "mini" Demon Drop from the old miniature golf course that was next to the Sky Slide before Challenge Park existed. It was always interesting to see what you can find down there while on the Mean Streak.

Is it really a junkyard?

I mean, the gemini trains. I know you can't run 3 on each side, but perhaps they rotate the trains so they get less wear and tear? What was the point of CP getting 3 sets of trains if they can only use two?

The CCMR ones are just crap. I hate the design of those trains. The way the lap bars on all 3 rows of seats on the car are syncronizes, causing larger people to be in severe pain throughout the ride. They need to make new trains for that ride, or just destroy the ride itself.

Well, for the first 25 years of this rides existence it ran with 6 trains (3 red, 3 blue). However, the addition of the air-gates has slowed things down to where they can only effectively run 2 and 2. I never saw what the problem was before the air gates, just stay behind the yellow line. Yes many people got yelled at about it but it wasn't a hard concept and it let them have one of the best capacities in the park

John

If they could properly time the air gates, they could still run 3 trains as they could before the air gates.

I thought the 2 Gemini trains were sitting under mean streak, not in the boneyard.

Nothing much in the boneyard. Some skyride cars from Dorney, and if memory serves right, some CCMR trains and maybe a Demon Drop car.

I absolutely HATE the CCMR trains. They need to get a restraint system like DT has or something put in, instead of this 1 size fits the entire car or your not riding deal. I hate those restraints.

No DD car in the boneyard. It has always run with 6 cars.

Uh, since when did Dorney have a sky ride and if they did why the hell would they travel 6 hours just to be put in a bone yard?

Arent those the old Frontier Lift cars?
The boneyard is best seen from the train. Look to your left as the train passes under Snake River Falls. There is a locked double gate. Behind that gate is the boneyard. Sometimes the gate is open and you get a good view. There are quite a few old sky ride cars from the skyride that was used to take you over to Frontier town.
MillForce810,

Kindly refrain from taking a smartass tone when you don't know what you're talking about. Dorney Park had a sky ride for a number of years before it was removed following the 1998 season. A popular rumor tells of a scrapped plan to incorporate the Dorney ride into the plans for CP's Camp Snoopy.

Rich is right. If you don't know, don't speak, because someone here will know.

No cars from the Frontier Lift are in the boneyard. The cable lift cars you see in the boneyard are from the chairlift that was located at Dorney Park. The Frontier Lift cars are now running on the Sky Ride.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

DemonDroppin.... Yes... there is actually a demon drop car in the boneyard... trust me.. I walked through it every day durring cleaning weeks. I forget what the number on the side of it was... but there is a demon drop car there. It's on the left side if you are coming from under snake river falls. the lift from dorney is on the right side... as it a picked over old truck. There is also some halloweekends stuff in there. and a lot of tires. If you really want a good look in the boneyard... the train is NOT the way to go... look to your left on the second hill on millennium force. That's your best bet.

Edit: My guess is yes... because it was there durring cleaning weeks this year. So it's still there unless they moved it between the end of april and now. Don't see why they would unless it got repainted and sent to aurora.

Edit 2: I tell you what... I'll go ride millennium tonight after I get off... (I work till 6) and I'll look for it. *** Edited 6/17/2004 4:30:45 PM UTC by liebevision***

Is the Demon Drop car actually still there right now? I remember seeing it a few years ago but don't remember seeing it since.

Then again, I haven't been looking, either.

Dave could say for sure, but I seem to recall that after the accident on the freefall at SFGAm (now at Geauga Lake), it was decided that you should run the ride with one less car, not having one in the bottom of the shaft until the one above moved into drop position. That makes sense, because there would be less room on the ground for the cars so you need to take one out.

Thanks for the info... I'll definately take a peek next time I'm on MF. I had always thought DD ran with six cars, maybe the one in the boneyard was broken/unfixable and was replaced. Or maybe I'm wrong and it ran with more cars at some point.

The Amazement Park

I seem to recall hearing of the same blocking change, Jeff. It was actually brought up in this thread but there wasn't too much said about it other than what we think was changed.

You just answered my question Jeff... makes sense! I'm learning so many things in these posts. Yee-haw!
