I have seen the majority of Camper Village under 2 feet of water. I am telling you that you will NEVER be permitted to tent camp there.
There are also a couple of old houses back there that I hear they may be renovating. Very nice homes indeed. One a nice brick home, and the other tan. There is plenty going on back there. Many trees down towards Camper Village. I doubt that many trees will be taken down away from that. I'm guessing that the trees more towards the homes will be thinned out. When you walk around in the woods on that side, you feel like you are miles away from the park, and that you are the first to walk there. I guess it's just something about undisturbed nature...

My vote would be for some cabins.

I was just looking at an old CP map. not sure of the year but judging from the coasters it must be from the very early eighties. The campgrounds look really remote and woodsy before Sandcastle and Soak City. I bet it was real nice back then. Kind of a glimpse into the past when most of the point was undeveloped and patrons would take isolated walks or romantic late night boat rides on the lagoons.
The map I saw was on ebay, sorry I don't have a direct link.
I was told that back in the 80's the campground was so popular that they crammed 950-some campers onto the grounds during one popular weekend. They were parking anywhere they could find a spot.
Camping is surging in popularity again. If you haven't been to an Outdoor show recently - go! Some of those campers are nicer than my house.
It seems pretty smart for the park to giveth in an area they have been taking away from over the past 12 years. Wonder what a new campsite will cost?
Water hookup and rumor has it they will allow Campfires. I am hoping they re do the bathrooms more importantly the showers. I don't know if they have washing rooms.
Do they have washing machines in those campers yet?

Wasnt it Chief Wahoo who broke this over a month and a half ago? Just wondering. Not being a smarty pants kinda guy, just wondering.
Some on the most humerous things I saw last summer, my 5th season at CP as an employee was seeing Mr Olcott (Corporate VP of Accomodations) tryin to help fix the breakers that blew on the 4th o' July in 99. Camper Village will never be "torn down or gotten rid of" it brings in a heafty amount of money for CP and its accomodations division. Plus CP wont downsize its already impressive resort room/site count. Just ramblin, but working for Accomodations at CP for 5 summers makes you learn a few things
