Say it with us: Cedar Point does not own the lake.
I love when someone tries to be clever and condescending with a cute line while in reality has no clue what they are talking about. Best sit this one out champ.. maybe go back to a French fry thread or something.
It doesn't matter who owns what boat, lake, car, house, etc... local ordinances exist. If this continues to be a problem and starts affecting business at CP, I assure you there will be one.
Here in Grosse Point:
Sec. 42-1. - General definition, prohibition.
Whatever annoys, injures or endangers the safety, health, comfort or repose of the public; offends public decency; interferes with, obstructs or renders dangerous any street, highway, navigable lake or stream; or in any way renders the public insecure in life or property is hereby declared to be a public nuisance. Public nuisances shall include, but not be limited to, whatever is forbidden by any provision of this chapter. No person shall commit, create or maintain any nuisance.
e.) The volume of sound shall be controlled so that it will not be audible for a distance in excess of 100 feet from the sound amplifying equipment and so that the volume is not unreasonably loud, raucous, jarring, disturbing, or a nuisance to persons within the area of audibility.
I assure you, there will be something similar if needed.

Cool, now explain how Cedar Point has the authority to enforce public ordinances, which is the point I was making.
What do you mean? The police would enforce it as they should.
The point you were making, and I'll use your own words, was that Cedar Point does "not own the lake". My point, again, is that I can own my house and be in my house but I don't escape the law of causing a nuisance. And I chose not to post the whole thing, but yes it does include waterways including lakes in that specific example.
And to my main point, again, is that if this indeed did become such a major problem, you can bet CP has some major influence on getting an ordinance exactly like the one I posted above enacted. In which case a quick call to the PD would end the obscene music at the beach. Money talks and its in CP's and Sandusky's best interest to keep the business and tourism money flowing.

This was an isolated incident it appears, so I'm sure it won't "continue to be a problem". I've been on that beach hundreds of times, and have yet to hear any loud music coming from the boats, including many 4th of July's where the lakeshore is lined with boats. I think you may be over thinking this one.

It's a discussion forum, discussing things is what it's for. You want a forum that just posts announcements and doesn't allow discussion, there are lots of those. Go check 'em out.
I'll pass, thanks.
There's a difference between meaningful discussion and catastrophizing over something that is in literally no one's control who has any authority connected to this site (OP included) or the park we're discussing.
Plenty of people will continue going to the beach as they have for over a century now and one incident of one vulgar song being played loudly isn't going to change that.
In regards to life not needing a soundtrack that is so true. I wish more stores and restaurants would turn the music down in addition to people using headphones and ear buds. I love music but I don't need every moment of my life to be filled with audio entertainment. I also don't understand why so many people do enjoy being jerks to others on purpose I just don't get it.
In the obnoxious people arena, what I'll never understand are people who talk on speakerphone in public, while holding the phone near their face. Feeling self-important enough that you can't step somewhere more private to take a non-speakerphone phone call is bad enough, but needlessly forcing both sides of your conversation on people around you is some of the worst "I'm the main character" behavior I've witnessed.

There have been times I'm in the grocery store and nearby is a person having a conversation with someone on speakerphone and it's a very personal conversation, that is, they're having a marital argument or talking about medical issues. I just look at them like, "You understand everybody can hear that, right? Do you really want everybody to know about your cousin's inability to pass kidney stones?"
