B&M Dive Machine

They are too ugly to be put in at CP :)

Their are few B&M's that look good.

I must agree that a Dive Machine at CP would be old news and that Sheikra is a big disappointment. Two hills, three turns and a loop is all you get with a 200'+ coaster? They could have done so much more and disappointed to see that Griffon will follow the same path.

I just saw the Griffon video today and it makes me wanna go to BGE even less. They really need to consider an Intamin ride or sumthin other than B&M. Griffon looks like an exact copy of Sheikra only floorless and with one more Immelman

If CP were to do a dive machine they should do it with a unique inversion or something. Not like ShieKra or Oblivion

I also thought SheiKra was a great ride. The only negative thing I can say about it, is that it is way too short a ride. Other than that, fun, good pacing and nice elements.

I am sure Griffon will be cool in it's own way too.

I've never been on a dive machine, but they (so far) have looked too much like one-trick ponies. If they added another lift and dive, along with a few more interesting elements, it would seem they could be a lot more fun.

Do the folks who dislike Sheikra also dislike Dragster and Wicked Twister? Because, honestly, there isn't much to those two coasters either.

I rode Sheikra and I really enjoyed it. If I was younger I probably would have reridden it several times.

Yes. Bunch of One Trick Ponies (who will take the PBFFL!).

Well I don't have a problem with Wicked Twister, although I could've gotten front seat when it WASN'T pouring down raining. TTD is my fave ride cuz I'm looking for the fastest speed and tallest height. And I never said i had a problem with Sheikra, only I think Busch Gardens shouldn't put an almost exact version of Sheikra in BGE

I don't think one-trick ponies are inherently bad, I just think there needs to be some sort of element that is unique enough to warrant their one-trickedness. (;)) TTD has height and speed, while WT has a unique (within the park) overall experience.

Don't get your hopes up. When they opened the ride at Busch Tampa, the park told one of the newspapers that they have an exclusivity deal with B&M for an unspecified amount of time. I doubt we'll see another dive coaster for a few years.

What is it with the Divers and the exclusivity? Didn't Alton Towers have a deal after Oblivion?

Jeff's avatar

Not sure. They did say in that news article last year that it was North America only though, so that hot new Australian dive machine shouldn't be far away. ;)

I heard the same as Jeff from the park's planning department. I'm sure they deal for Alton Towers specified "no other park in Europe" and the deal for Busch specified "no other non-Busch park" in North America.

Chief, WT and TTD are much more fun and intense then Shikra. Shikra does it's job though. It looks good and gives a good ride to an average guest. But the best ride there is Montu, beats Raptor in many ways....

Well, of course Montu is good (as is Kumba for that matter...still one of my favorite B&Ms) so you are not comparing apples to apples.

Sheikra is, in my opinion, enjoyable as a ride and also as a ride that interacts with non-riders. When I visited the park (almost a year ago today as a matter of fact) there were tons of people watching the ride, enjoying the splash, etc.

I'm not sure yet how excited I am about Griffon. I've never ridden one of these things, but it does looks like it could be fun. Busch does a great job with theming, and I think that can add a lot to a ride like this.

As for the one-trick-pony comments--I can think of several rides at CP that fit the description moreso than this. Power Tower, TTD, WT--these were all rides at CP that I really didn't anticipate being very interesting at all when they were announced, precisely because there was almost nothing to them---but after riding them, I can say that each of them does their particular "trick" very well, so I'm not complaining. :)

I'll give Griffon a shot. It looks like an interesting ride experience, and that's all I'm really looking for.

Well, I think its redundant to call a flat ride a one-trick pony. Coasters, on the other hand, generally have a variety of elements to them.

I think a Dive Machine would be a good addition to the park if that ever happened. If they did get one, I got a feeling it would be longer than oter divers with more elements but not necessarily taller.
