When you say they leave the lights on Dragster all night, are you referring to the flood lights, or the strobe lights? I'm not an expert on what the FAA requires of tall structrues, but I think the strobe lights are for aircraft, and the flood lights are just for show.
Both. They leave the flood lights and strobe lights on TTD. You can see the tower when its lit up like miles away if nothing is blocking the view.

The lights on Blue Streak look to be real old ones and they are on so you can see the track and stuff. Most coasters dont have lights on them. It must be a safety thing to keep the lights on Blue Streak on all the time.
I'm guessing you're referring to the lights that are actually shining down on the lift, similar to street lights? To clear everything up, the lights be referred to were the chasing ones on the side of the ride.

One side of the Mantis lift hill is lighted. Plus, Mean Streak has flood lights all under it, giving a REALLY cool glow at night.

FYI - The FAA & FCC requires strobe lights for any structure 200 Feet & Up.
I know this isn't related to what you guys are talking about with the Lights, but it kinda is. During the off-season I keep having dreams I'm walking down the midway and the TTD countdown traffic light is at the begining of the park instead of by the coaster itself. I also dream that as I'm walking through the closed park, Millennium Force has a tarp going down the whole layout. It's weird because Dragster doesn't except for the very top. Magnum also had a huge tarp over it. Strange dream huh? :)
FCC couldn't care less about tower lighting. It's strictly an FAA issue.
When it gets really bad is when the FAA insists that the "antenna supporting structure" be painted in alternating orange and white bands...and the antenna is connected to the FM combiner in the Empire State Building...
(yes, the FAA made such a demand. no, the building did not get painted in orange and white stripes.)

I know this thread has been inactive for 8 months, but I was just browsing older threads, and saw this:

If that is a requirement, then why doesn't Wicked Twister have strobes?
Ripcord Crew 2002 / MF Crew 2004
I could have sworn that I've seen the strobes on it before. Now you've got me curious and I'm going to have to look for it this weekend.
Which now reminds me why I hate my legislators. Time change isn't until next weekend (as opposed to this weekend).

Goodbye MrScott
John
The only bright lights I have seen on the top of WT's spikes were the sparks from welding torches in 2002 ;)
In all honesty, I really don't think there are strobes on the top of the spikes.
Ripcord Crew 2002 / MF Crew 2004
They should just keep MF's lights on..those look the best in my opinion :)
Total Maverick rides for the 2007 season = 27
Top 5--- 1. Maverick- 2. Millennium 3. Magnum 4. TTD 5. Gemini
Cavs- 2007 Eastern Conference Champions!.-
Getting back to Blue Streak, I really wish they would add chasing lights to the park side of the ride and the left side of the structure. Hershey's GCIs look so amazing with their complete set of chasers and they really add to the ride experience.
^I don't get it either.
But, I believe they're 100 feet off. All the structures in the park over 300 feet have a light on top. Power Tower, Millennium Force, Space Spiral, and Top Thrill Dragster.

^ - now that you mention it, I don't remember one on Magnum either. Now that's 2 things to look for tomorrow night. I know there's the wind-speed gauge (I forget the technical name at the moment) but I don't remember a strobe.
