Regarding the Cedar Point Cinema...
It used to be that the holding theatre (the Cinema Showcase) was used for a simple live show...I know they've used it to showcase the beach band, the hobo band, and a magic act. They caused a little problem with that theatre in 1981, though, when they moved some rides around. It took them a while to come up with something to put in there (the Crash Boom Band) that was loud enough to compete with the Wildcat. But there is a trick: most live-E only works 6-days a week, and there is no alternate show for that theatre.
The IMAX theatre is one of the earliest (and one of the largest) IMAX theatres built, constructed in 1975, and to the best of my knowledge, Cedar Point's system is NOT equipped for 3D, although it has been equipped in the past with special lenses for showing Omnimax movies (remember "A Freedom to Move"?).
The sad truth is that "Extreme" was simply a lousy movie. There are a lot of good IMAX films out there, and "Extreme" is not one of them.
