Best times working on coasters(or other rides)

I would have to say that the best time working on a coaster for me would have to be the 2002 season, which I worked on the Millennium Force. I was at unload dispatch and I was turning to hand a parent swap to a parent. I accidently hit the E-Stop with my elbow. That was a fun night, I got to go home early, and then they transfered me to cad cars. Unfortunatly the people were not on the lift. I wish I would have known that I was going to do that. I would have gone out with a bang. what are some of your fun experiances from working a coaster or any other ride at cp?

I know who you are! HaHa. No, but really, that was scary when every on Mantis heard that Milly had an E-stop. We all thought someone for surely lost their job. Glad to see you didn't, but how cool would that have been to have it stop at the top. Actually, from what I heard, the train had just cleared the cable. Whoa!

MANTIS ROCKS 2002

Hey, Waz up Doug...I remember that night on Millennium clear as day!....Shortly after you were moved to Cad Cars we did it again!...But the smarter way...We didn't hit E-Stop; We did it in a really stealthy way in which even the maintenance guys were stumped. How we did it I can not say on here. And the best part is we stoped the train at the top! Full of childish guests..The time in which we did it was near park closing..And we were down for about a half hour to fourty-five minuites; It really helped clear out our line..It was pretty awesome!..........

"Saying one is dead is NOT RIGHT"

I guess I was right on when I said the Millenium Force crew this year was lame. Perhaps if you worked to hit interval as hard as you do on these clever schemes to cause downtime (on a ride that already has plenty of it) my view would change.

The MF crew the weekend before labor day was probably the saddest operation I have ever witnessed at Cedar Point. On back to back rides early in the morning, the restraints were released and the back left hand side of the train (my bar included) was never rechecked. Yes, the person in controls did say, "Please recheck all restraints." No, it was not a ride pride either. Add to that the fact that I saw maybe three intervals hit in an hour and it makes for an embarassing situation for someone who always brags how the crews at CP are the best.

On a more positive note, the crew was much improved when I was in the park the past weekend. No missed lapbars that I saw and much quicker. Perhaps I caught them on a bad day back in August, but it was definitely not the type of incompetence that I'm used to seeing at Cedar Point.

best times?! o where do i begin? well the first thing that came to mind was "Shari, how was last nite? O MY GOD LET ME TELL YOU!" o how i miss shari. but hte most memorable moment at magnum for the summer had to be the day the power breaker for the lift went out and we had a train stuck w/ the first car right on the lift crown. emily was in controls and i can still hear her say "wheres the train, i wanna send this thing! umm em, the train stoped. hi this is emily from magnum and were down loaded operational train stoped!" ill prob think of more later

Wouldn't that be down mechanical? ;)

HOLY HELL!

I have to say listening to the Magnum crew talk about Rollercoaster Tycoon this past weekend was interesting. Let's just say it's a good thing those guests waiting on the platform for lost articles were getting a kick out of it too and didn't take offense at their potty mouths! :)

The best time I had working on any ride was working on Mine Ride last September. The whole weekend was a blast. It was such a laid back crew. I don't know how many cracks Paul, Adam, the ride pride, and I made toward each other. And I can't forget when I (accidentally) hit Paul in the arm with a sandbag. I got "the look". Fun times

Matt, I remember some people talking about Rollercoaster Tycoon, but not with guests around....and Mark I have a pic of the backrub circle somewhere. I'm still upset that they didn't let me do the walkdown since I have missed one all of the three yesrs I worked there!

i think it was funny how that whole midway next to the lift was filled w/ guests watching and then when the guests got to the bottom everyone was clapping, that was pretty interesting to watch. i really wanted to go up but i was stuck on spiels (blah) and then i had to get everyones name when they came in. not too fun. but i did get to go up the lift alot. taking jeremiah up to the top and having a convo w/ nancy while shes in low zones, fun times

There are so many memories. This one was actually motivated by Annie. One of my favorite times was my first year when the crew learned why you don't stand behind someone while they're de-sandbagging. On Gemini you have to de-sandbag really quickly so you don't set up. I tend to fling the sandbags really far back, sometimes hitting the wall. While Ben, the ATL, was picking up the sandbags behind me I accidently flung on right into his...well...you know. Now I warn newcommers never to stand behind someone who is de-sandbaggin.

I must say, on the topic of sandbagging (don't really get me started), that hearing Chad Kernell's view on sandbagging towards the end of the '01 season was quite priceless.

Well lets see, my best memory of the Wicked Twister would have to be, all of our crew having so much bonding time, (when we were down((like all the time)) and nothing to do).......

We would take funny pictures, push the train, play silly games and have a great time.

Walki-Talki's "Oh no here comes a supervisor and everyones in the control booth!" The great times.

The sad times when people had to go their own seperate ways!! tear tear.....

"Big fish. Little fish, cardboard box" how can we forget that one.

All of the so called cleaning time that we spent cleaning one area because there was no point in cleaning because the train was so spotless if we cleaned it anymore it would fall apart. (Hey maybe thats the problem!)

All of our so called crew parties!! playing twister now that was great! get some people tipsy and you never know whats gonna happen!!

This statement is from the youngest, the "teenie-est" the most giggle-ness in the control both.

Justeen!!! a.k.a Justeenie Weenie the Giggle Queenie!!

Anybody remember the Matis crew's Christmas in July in the parking lot of Taco Bell?

I think my favorite work memory this summer had to be my last Friday at Iron Dragon, watching Heide beat an empty incoming train with a candy cane. Almost fell off my stool I was laughing so hard.
I think my fav work memory this summer , would have to be when Al Snow a WWE wrestler rode the Giant Wheel , all of us were like "Ohh my "..hehehehe also when we had a crew party in my room and we got some special visitors around 2am.....Hey Jenilee whats in that locker....U can drink some of this suntan lotion if ya want...and my Message Wall...i still never got all the marker off ....opps

ha al snow. so he came and rode our ride when i was spieling. some little kid behind me kept poking me and asking if that was al snow. i had no idea what he was saying, i dont watch wrestling. So i said over the spieler in a questioning way "al snow?" when his train was still in the station! Ppl behind me on the platform got really excited and i got the 'eye' from a couple crew members. oops...hehe.

magnum crew 2002

Hello james I remember you. I remember working on magnum for one day that was fun. I was at entrance and I had these women come up to me with the hugest guzugas. They then one of them asked me "are my boobs ok for this ride" I just about died laughing that was so funny.

Haven't worked on any coasters at CP, however one of my favorite memories of CP is one word - "flannigans". Ride ops know what this is, if I spelled it right.

hmmm, not my favorite, but one thing i'll remember forever is this great line that i must have said ten thousand times at the WT entrance (before they finally got the PA).......

"Wicked Twister is currently closed for mechanical reasons, we do not know how long this delay is, but we do STRONGLY reccomend going to see other rides and attractions at Cedar Point, once again, we do not know how long this delay will be, we apologize for any inconviences this may cause"

If i say that one more time, i'll kill myself!

(the fun part was after i said alll that they'd walk up and ask "it is working?" or "how long will it be?" IDIOTS!
