Best ride to work on...

I've always wanted to ask a CP employee what the best ride (excluding coasters) would be to work on. If you had to choose whatever ride to work on (again, excluding coasters), what would it be?

And now, the same question that includes coasters.

We all know the REAL millennium doesn't start until May 13!

I would not want to work a ride, but if I had to I would work White Water Landing, I have known people that have worked it, and the top tower get flashed all the time.

But, (my father was a Blue Streak ride op in the late 60's early 70's) you have to work like janitorial duties or the hotel for a few years. Then they move you up to flat rides, (maybe Troika :) ) finally, if you get a good rep, coasters. My dad started as a bellhop at the old Breakers, moved to the Turnpike cars, then Giant Wheel, finally Blue Streak. (I have heard so many stories about the brakes...)

I wanna drive the Zamboni! Oh, wait wrong website! Never mind, I wanna work the Raptor if I ever work at the Point. I already know what my spiel will be. Look down there!

Thank you for riding the Raptor and please enjoy your day here at Cedar Point, America's Rockin' Rollercoast!

Welcome back Raptor riders, how was your flight?!
(original, eh?) ;)
I think that there is no "best" ride to work on at CP. We all have our "ride pride" as employees, but we all had the same working environment - CP!! As most loyal employees (lifers) would agree, that's all that matters!! I've never heard a ride op complain about the specific ride they're working - it's all in the attitude towards the park in general! (just my opinion!)

Kumba Cayl--not quite a Zamboni, but they do have a fleet of "sweepers" that are very similar...they sweep the whole park, parking lot, paths, ect each night--talk to Park Services!!!LOL!

Carrie,

You aren't a "lifer" are you?

Rides may seem like a swell time for the first couple weeks. However imagine being stuck at the same freaking ride day after day during the hot summer days. They make you work longer hours as well. I hear Sky Ride is ok because your always moving. Personally I would prefer a water ride to see all those wet t- shirts.
First, ItalicSquirrel, who ever told you that you have to work your way up to rides, was on crack. That might have been the way it was back when your father was there but it has since changed. If you ever talked to anybody that has been in rides they would have told you. The second thing, is that, if you have the right crew, you don't mind the long hours and heat. The people you work with become almost like family. In one year I got to work in two different departments at two different dementions. And I have to say, without a question in my mind, that rides was the best job that I ever had. What is the best ride to work? That question is not easy to answer. Of course I have "ride pride," but I also got to work a number of different rides that I also enjoyed.
Raptor is the ride to be on, but to what billybob said about Sky Ride, it is the hardest ride to run in the park. I worked at Sky Ride for two months before I transfered to Raptor. I have basicly worked on every ride in Zone One and Two because Sky Ride had such lengthy downtimes which gave me the oppertunity to be a (ride whore) and work some different rides. Every ride has its good points and bad points. Since I actually worked in rides I guess I would know. No offence to Challenge Park People. As for the wet T-shirts I saw alot more than that on Sky Ride. If you want to see good looking women just look around the park there everywhere.
Raptorboy - I'm not trying to start a fight or anything, but the job title of those that work at Ripcord or Triple Challenge Racepark is "ride host" (as stated on my contract for the past 3 years). You just have a more "worldy" view because those of you in the park have the chances to work other places during downtime (not that that's a bad thing, I'd love to be able to do that). Nuff said about that..... this page isn't the place to dispute this, just thought I'd inform you.

I ment nothing about Challange Park because you guys work as hard or harder than we do. Ripcord ecsecially because you are in the sun all day. I was just telling about my experiance. I did not mean to offend you Ripcoard99 or anyone else.
No harm, no foul.... :)

I am going to have to say that any ride with a
co-ed crew is a very good ride, and an even better one to work.
