The day started VERY early when me and 2 of my girl friends left my house at 3 a.m. The night before we each made t-shirts showing our enthusiasm to be at Cedar Point for Opening day. The normal 4.5-5 hour trip took less than 4 hours thanks to a lot of speeding... in-fact due to that speeding I got pulled over in Ohio for going 20 over on 80/90! Luckily the cop was extremely nice and let us go without so much as a written warning. (I think it was the awesome shirts that softened his heart)
Anyhoo, when we finaly arrived at the Point at 7 a.m. we were surprised to be the very first group in line at the Season Pass center, and the 23rd car in the parking lot. Since we knew we had a bit of waiting ahead of us, we got some hot chocolate and a blanket to bundle up with... it was pretty funny becuase a lot of people walked by us and thought we had slept overnight... I wish! Around 8:30 we saw a news station doing a piece on opening day. We went up to them and showed them our X-treme home made t-shirts, and found out that the station was 41 news out of Kalamazoo (which is near our home town). They interviewed us and were quite impressed with our t-shirts... then they told us to meet them at the front gate around 9:00. So after getting our season passes (a five minute wait) we headed to the front gate expecting to do another interview. To our surprise they escorted us inside the park and to Wicked Twister! When we got to WT we were still thinking they would just do an interview in-front of the ride (while hoping against all hopes that we might get to ride it) well to our great surprise they sent us up through the exit and got us on the ride with the news anchor! We rode WT, and it turns out they didn't get the shot they needed, so we got to ride AGAIN! By this time we were wetting ourselves with excitement. After our second ride Bryan Edwards (the PR guy following the camera crew around) gave us his card and told us to get a hold of him the next time we are going to CP and he would "help us out" AWESOME! When we thought the excitement was all over I saw Mr. Kinzel and got to shake his hand... he was all smiles and very nice.
After that incredible 20 minutes we headed over to Magnum and (here comes the not so good part of the day) got a walk on... incredible ride, I really missed it over the winter months. Well once I got off the ride I realized that my camera wasn't in my pocket, so I headed up the exit ramp and asked if an Elph 2 camera had been handed in... no luck. I was pissed! I only had the camera since Christmas and someone already stole it. I would have liked to think that any half decent person would hand it in to lost and found, but alas... some little jerk took it. Determined not to let that ruin my day, we headed to MF and got a great ride. I'm a little dissapointed that they took away the background music and traded the stainless steel cars (which I thought looked really slick) for sterile looking fiberglass. We also got a ride on DT or as we now call it DT3D. I don't care what anyone says about the improvements. I think they are great and really add a lot to a once dilapitated old ride.
Well the rest of the day was much like everyone elses here, except for the fact that on our last ride of the night on WT I finaly met Dan. It was quite fun... we got a picture with him in front of the WT station. My friends had no idea who he was until I explained that he's the guy from the Discovery Channel with a love afair with Magnum. (Dan, I REALLY like that jacket you had on. It rules). Driving away from the beautiful sunset on the sillouhet of coasters, we took a moment to remember the perfect end to a perfect day at Cedar Point, America's Rockin' Roller Coast. If there is one thing I learned from this trip, it's that spending hours toiling over home-made t-shirts really pays off!

I saw you guys in line in front of me for both the front row on MF around 4:00 and the back row on WT at the end of the day. I was the thin blond guy in the red shirt and glasses. Great shirts BTW. I can tell you had a blast just like my friend and I did. Was Dan the man with the jacket with all the patches for every ride? I saw him at least one other time as well.
Maybe we all can meet again this season.
