"The greatest leaders don't take credit for their actions; they don't have to."

Sorry, my computer likes to give me hassle sometimes:

best: oooo, i dunno, everything i guess, the people, 45's..., when we were able to beat the traffic at close, sittin the control booth and bs-ing w/my tl and atl for hours, the rest of my crew, sweepin' during the laser show, i even loved the blackout!! It was my second to last day, and i got to just chill w/my crew, and actually enjoy my last night because we all got cutback!

worst: muffleheads, mayflies, piles of wet sand.... o, and the troikanator, that ride is a *****

The best part of 03 was the blackout, I mean who doesn't love running around to 8 rides who don't even have the flashlights you're supposed to get in 98 degree weather? And I just realized, it's a good thing they didn't have them, because how was I supposed to carry 8 flashlights? We even took pictures of each other with the guests to remember it by! I'm not going to make a comment on the whole dork thing, because I'm actually in a fan club... how much dorkier can you get?

Best: My friends, working with all the cool people, the occasional free Pepsi, karaoke night at Buffalo Wild Wings, the inside jokes and hysterical anecdotes I've acquired, the partying, the drama (most of it, anyway) and the hilarious rumors (especially the ones about someone being dead or pregnant or hospitalized when they're just on a five-day vacation), sitting in the cashier booths with nothing to do but write and draw on the ends of the register tape when the tape was getting too low, and all the lovely insider information I got for when I returned to the park as a guest.

Worst: Muffleheads, the snotty supervisor, the occasionally evil roommates, the traffic jams, that nasty rotten egg smell from the Sandusky sulfur pit, the fire alarms going off in the middle of the night, and most of all the guests-- not all of them, just the ones who refuse to understand why a five foot tall kid can't use a junior ticket or why they can't bring their drinks through the gate or why they have to be clothed inside the park or why they have to check spiked jewelry at security (come on, would YOU want to get hit by a dog collar that's traveling at a speed of 120 miles per hour and falling from 420 feet in the air?!?!). Then's there's the annoyance of standing at the gate in the heat in a cheap uniform and being asked "Do you work here?" especially when you were the one who scanned their ticket and the other stupid questions, like "What time is the ten o'clock laser show?" I thought they were kidding when they said people would ask that one, but my personal fave dumb question would have to be "What ocean is that?" How, exactly, do you drive to Lake Erie and not realize you're no where NEAR the ocean? I mean, even if you're really bad at geography, you just drove to Ohio! Wasn't the road map a clue? Even if you flew, how can think you're near an OCEAN? I know I'm ranting, but if you really need to ask that question, forgive me for saying "The Pacific."

The best is that you're bound to make a bunch of friends and have some good times partying or whatever with them. Free entry into the park is also nice, but not a huge selling point. If you've never lived away from home, it'll instill a great feeling of independence.

By far the worst is that you are sacrificing your Summer to work long hours with no overtime pay. Hours generally aren't really flexible (ie, you can't ask your manager/supervisor for tomorrow off because some great concert is coming you just found out about). Some days it gets ridiculously hot, and it's terrible if you don't have AC.

It depends on how you look at it. I'm not going back this year because I've got a well-paying job with flexible hours and less stress, but the nicest thing is that this year I can spend time with my friends at home. I've been doing amusement parks for 4 years now, so I'm ready for a break.

But I definitely recommend the experience to anyone who hasn't lived away from home or is interested in doing it, you've just gotta realize that your life at home is a completely seperate thing from your life at Cedar Point, and at the beginning/end of the season you'll have to deal with the consequences of that.

Mr. AreasupRew made some very points and i dont have anything much to different to say. Cedar point is a great place to work and get away to be on your own there are many positives in finding your own independence and in a sense finding you. But like anything there are downfalls. It takes a special person to complete a season at cedar point. Because as you all that have ben there know its hard. No matter where you work its hott the hours are long and you put up with a lot of bull****. The parks guidelines are as strict as they can possiably be. You have to conform yourself in a sense to comply with them all. There are long lines you deal with everyday wheather it be picking up your check, cashing your check, getting lunch going and coming from work. Many people do not last to the end of their contract. For all of you new employees when you get onto point and get into your training class look around. I almost guarantee that 50% of them wont bethere come july. But with all of this stated I am returning for my third season as a foods supervisor. Theres something about it that makes you have fun. I do not belive anyone can work there and say they didnt have any fun all summer long. The park rewards us with differentthings all summer long with ride nights, game nights, movie nights, baseball games, ect. And better satisfaction then that of acomplishment. Thats why I'm going back. And sure you get to meet new people from all sorts of different countries and hang out with them. With all the bad things involved the toughest is the last day your there. Saying goodbye to peole you have worked with and lived with all summer is the worst thing you will have to deal with. No matter what the park puts you through it is still hard to leave becaus eyou become apart of something very special. We run that park. Not the executives or owners. We the seasonal crew run Cedar Point all summer. And if you cant look back at that as a great thing about working there then you will never find satisfaction in anything.
The above is one of the best posts that I have ever read.

Excluding grammer and punctuation, of course.

2004 ~ Wicked Twister Crew

Ehhh I guess i'll add on to this thread thingy. I'm sure i'm going to say stuff that alot of other people have already said but I was to lazy to read through ass those posts... SO ANYWAY... here goes.

Best: By far the best was coming into work every day and laughing about the most random stuff in the world. Things like, the random stupid questions that guests ask and so on. Also, if you can get close to the people in your dorm or appartment things will be a blast. I love the guys from my appartment this past summer and wouldn't trade them for anything. Even though we were constantly raided by cops and had people stealing stuff left and right. It was still an amazing time. A word of advice though, go in whole heartedly and give everything to making the best out of each day. There's going to be drama... there's going to be days where you wanna just walk out because of getting yelled at by seemingly everyone. Just be willing to work through the very little bad that there is and your summer will be amazing.

Worst: The simple fact that you can't trust the people you live with if you don't know them beforehand. By the end of the summer you'll be able to tell... but early on... there's so many sketchy people that are there just to steal crap and pawn it off. I remember the one night we had a kid move in... and the next day when we all left for work the kid stole a television, an xbox a cd player... a bunch of video games... a ton of dvd's and all sorts of other stuff. I think by the time we figured out the total amount stolen pricewise... it was over 2,000 dollars. Also... THERE WILL BE GUESTS WHO NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO WILL CHEW YOU OUT! There's nothing you can do about it... people are touchy and there's going to be times when they've had a bad experience in the park due to other people being rude to them, their kids not being tall enough to ride and a zillion other things that would make up a dictionary sized book if they were all listed. Just deal with them as calmly as possible, and realize that it's nothing personal. But try not to be the person that makes the people take their frustrations out on the rest of us lol.

Okay so now for just a bit of random commenting on my part. Anyone who will be on the 04 Power Tower Crew... you're ATL is a sweetheart. We worked together last year and you guys will LOVE her. I don't know if i'll be on PT again this year or if i'll be somewhere else. I'll find out soon enough though. Thats about it for now

Best... hanging out with my crew at work or off work. parting in 907...yes it was the same appartment andrew lived in..along with the cops that came over all of the time... my advice to you guys is bond with your crew...hanging out with your crew and of course making new friends.... i of course made alot of friends by hanging out at the bar....

Worst.... roommates leaving and locking you out of your room... not fun.... being yelled at for a ride not running or not yelling for riders loud enough...fire alarms...you need to get used to them

i just want to say thanks to andrew....im glad you thought i was a sweetheart... just don't piss me off.lol

Best: Sitting in my Apt roasting marshmellows over Zippo's during the blackout after leaving Disaster early

Worst, being at Disaster during the Blackout (emergency lighting only lasts so long...and the aftermath to the blackout wasn't fun either...ie:being down for days for some reason or another..(sorry I can't give details)
