Hello everyone. I wanted to make everyone aware that I found an adult bedbug on my hat while on break yesterday. I have dealt with the horrors of bedbugs in the past so I knew 'the drill' of what to do. I when I got back to my room in Commons I checked everything for signs and found nothing. I believe it was a 'hitch hiker' bedbug from someone else. My best guess if
I had to make one is it got on me while on the bus to work. I am not trying to alarm anyone or cause a panic, but PLEASE check your bedding and around your room. They are nocturnal by nature. They love to live in crevices and cracks and can hide in the SMALLEST of places as they are very flat. Signs of their presence include "fecal" spotting which looks much like tiny round dried blood which is often in short lines. I would imagine you would see this on the wood bedframes easiest or on white bedding. IF you see one in your room don't be freaked out by it. They aren't going to hurt you so you can grab it between your thumb and forefinger (kind of like a tick) but be aware they can be quick lil buggers. Catch it and trap it in a container or ziplock bag or etc and bring it to the housing desk immediately. They will not treat unless you bring them a bug as proof as treatment is expensive. If you have any questions, as I said me and my fiance dealt with them before so I'm a bit educated on the matter, feel free to contact me :) Again i'm not trying to cause a panic, i just want to bring about awareness and possibly educate everyone on the topic.
PSA: And if you need to treat your personal property (like your car, etc) - Sevin Dust does an excellent job of eradicating these little suckers, just don't breath the stuff in. It sucks, they're a pain but be on your guard and catch them before you've gone full blown invasion.
remember: no matter where you go... there you are.
Ah...bedbugs...glad I never had that issue at CP...my room got hit before I got there, and stayed clean through the season

I completely agree. If anyone sees them YOU NEED TO GET THEM before they go full blown. it's a lot easier when there are only a few. if you let it go you will be taking them home with you for sure at the end of the season. the eggs are TINY and can survive an awful lot. CP uses heat treatment if i'm not mistaken so you could also get a can of bedbug Raid. if they used pesticides then you wouldn't be able to Raid them as the chemicals interact and can cancel each other out. Just be aware they are present. check your beds. under the mattress and under the frame. check your sheets. they like to live in close proximity to their host. they aren't something you should try to deal with on your own. they are survivors and CP will deal with them for free. my fiance and i had to pay $500 as our landlord wouldn't pay for it on top of hotel stays as we couldn't be home after they sprayed for x number of hours... they are a menace.
