Beating 30 coaster in 24 hours

MDOmnis-

I tend to agree with you regarding making the public wait. If it was only a minute or two, it wouldn't be too bad. But when they are hooking up cameras to the trains, I can tell you from first-hand experience that it takes several minutes or longer to get those cameras hooked up properly.

I enjoyed the show, and kudos to those who did it - it certainly took a lot of work. I'd LOVE to do it, but I don't think we should overstep our welcome either.

Jeffrey Spartan thanks for clearing the ok thing up.

Like Dan, Jeff and Jeff S said parks only like to help out "high up" people. It is strange that when I joined ACE I got a letter saying that members of ACE should never use their Ace membership to get "special" stuff at parks but I bet that if ACE's PR guy wasn't in GRP, parks wouldn't have let them do it. The only reason I could see a park saying ok is because you need media coverage during the event...

I am not going give up either, but I think now since the idea was aired on TV it will be harder to get parks to say ok just because so many people are going to ask.

Well, what connections do we have to use? I'm sure a certain someone at this board might be able to get our foot in the door?

Check out coasterbuzz.com, some guy named Shorty came up with a method that got you 50 coasters in 18 hours. It is based on a SFWoA, CP, PKI backbone too!

Let's Go Pens!
Ya know it irrates me that our community (GTTP) can't make a run at this thing. To think about it we could easily smash that record in like 20 hours let alone 24. If we had 24 hours we'd have time to take a nap and a shower

Another thing half of those kiddy coasters on a general basis the park wouldn't let you ride in the first place but its all fun and games for them.

Another thing I forgot, it's not fair that they come into OUR HOUSE to beat their own record.

OUT!!
As much as I hate to say it because this is a very sore subject with me too but.. No one said life was fair.

MF 2001 - Tell ya when I hit triple digits....
Don't forget there's two small parks (Wyandot Lake & Stricker's Grove) in Ohio besides the three giants. One of them is only open to the GP on holidays though. There is also two small indoor coasters (Jeepers) up hear in Michigan. Then if you do it a month before the MISF you get a portable coaster. That's six coasters in between the big parks.
OK GUYS , i've gathered all the info , already and it just my be possible that we could beat the record by 5 coasters.
These rn't in any certain order but here r the parks and number of coasters:
Six Flags World of Adventuure, Aurora OH : 8
Cedar point , Sandusk OH : 14
Paramounts Kings Island ,Kings Island, OH: 8
Kennywood , West mifflin , PA : 6
Hershey Park Hershey , PA : 8
Knoebels , Elysburg, PA : 4
I think all these parks r in a relatively close distance apart , Exspecially Compared to California, We, or u guys can do this. We don't even have to go to Kenoebels and we'd still beat the record by 5 or we can go if we have time and kill it by 9, So if someone could get these miles down , we might have a plan what do u say !?

LoL just wanted to copy u guys
The problem with that, Noles4cal, is that they are a relatively close distance apart, but not close enough. Heck, it is a 4 1/2 hour drive down to PKI from CP/SFWoA and much longer from Kennywood and Hersheypark. The driving time would just be too much. GRP had a good setup in that they had two basic areas of parks with one drive in between to sleep. The parks you mentioned are much more scattered apart.

Steuks!!
This is the last post you will hear from me on this subject, I have three letters for media coverage M, T, V.

I think, in mid to late May, it could be done with *one* uncooperative park that would have to be done Guerrilla style. You'd just need to abduct a lot of kids for Jr Gemini. =)
This is a very harsh subject with me...

There are many teams planning on record attempts and this show is going to increase that number. I do have a problem with the fact that GRP was able to ride without waits and that certain parks let them in while they were closed (so it looked on the show). If the parks did not allow this, it would make it possible to break the record without being ACE big-shots. And since so many teams are planning 24 hour trips the parks are going to be getting very strict with who is allowed. The key may be a top media source. For example, CP would welcome ABC first in front of Discovery. So it might not be ALL about WHO you are but who you get to cover the event. It's all about the plublicity.

Now, does anyone know if Guiness would count both tracks of Gemini two coasters?

And for Dan and Red Garder Bob,
The last channel I want to see at CP is MTV. CP is supposed to be a family/thrill park. MTV is all about sex and profanity. I don't want to see Cedar Point get turned into the Keys or Cancun.

Well, I wish you guys the BEST of luck and I hope to heavens you get a go at it! Sounds like a total Blast!
For the record,
It takes me two hours to get to sfwoa, three to get to Cp, and I live twenty minutes (if even) from Kennywood.
Also, no one mentions Idewild Park which is maybe 45 min from kennywood. It only boasts two coasters though!

GOOD LUCK!
Someone up there mentioned Wyandot Lake, so I'll throw in my 2 cents here as well. Down here in Cincinnati there's Coney Island,

http://coneyislandpark.com/

who just recently built a coaster, Python. Also, Stricker's Grove may be easier to do than some might think.

http://home.fuse.net/strickersgrove/

Also, too bad Americana is closed right now. Hopefully they'll open back up soon. If all of those were possible, that's 19 coasters just in the Cincinnati area.

Give it a rest people..Those who have the capabilities and connections will get the chance..Others who don't will not!..Its that simple..Harsh but the truth!!

Its always been my opinion and a sore subject that CP has elected to not work with A Home team on this subject! Real shame! We provide so much positive publicity for them that they can't measure with this site and our passion!

Is there anything we can do at least to prevent GRP from resetting the record? I'm thinking a human blockade in front of MF and Magnum. (Bring in the tear gas) ;)

I have a better idea (that I stole from another member). Stand outside the ride with CoasterBuzz T-shirts and signs cheering them on.
