Banking/Direct Deposit Questions

Okay, so I know that CP offers direct deposit of paychecks through the 5/3rd Bank. Is it possible to use another bank for direct deposit? For example, Bank of America has a form that you personally download from the internet or pick up and fill out and give to your employer...will that work for Cedar Point?

Also...has anyone ever opened a 5/3rd account just for the summer in order to use the direct deposit benefit? If so what types of fees are associated with using ATMs, and closing the account when you're leaving to go home?

Any info would be great...thanks!

I am first year so I can't be the most of help, but heres the link to their website, which will tell you all the options etc, and you can even create your account online so you can have your atm card handy when you get there if you have a few weeks. Im pretty sure no atm fee at their teller and as for atm fees, thats up to the atm you are using to acess the charges that are not 5/3rd banks etc. Just set up the free checking account and close it when you leave and transfer your balance to your local. You only need a 50 dollar deposit to open the account.

Hope that helps, and see you this summer.

I am pretty sure that 5/3 is the only bank you can use for direct deposit. I don't know if they changed that or not.

I opened an account with them last summer - there's no fee involved. They gave me some starter checks, but if you want more you have to pay extra. They give you an ATM (jeanie) card and there is no fee if you use it at certain ATM machines (such as the one in the Cedars dorm, which is right next to the park). There are some others but I cannot remember exactly where. If you use your card at any other ATM's, there is a $1.50 fee.

I don't think there is a fee involved in closing the account - when I left last year I went to the bank reps in the park and asked if I could close my account. They said "sure" and I signed a piece of paper and stuff, but they must have forgotten because they never did close my account, and I was too lazy to call, so I'll still have a 5/3 account waiting for me when I go back next month :)

As a 5/3 employee...
5/3's offers totally free checking account where there is no minimum balance. You need $50 to open the account but after that you can keep as much or as little as you like in the account (as long as you have a positive balance) The only fees associated wit hte account are if you overdraw the account or use a non-5/3 atm which for the non 5/3 atm is 1.50 per withdrawal pls whatever the bank you're withdrawing from is going to charge you. If you close the account within 90 days there's a $29 fee (it might be $30 I don't have the brochure in front of me) If you get a debit card instead of an ATM card make sure you choose credit instead of debit at the stores cause otherwise it registers as a non 5/3 atm withdrawal...

Okay, thanks...that does help. It would just be so much easier though, for the employees, probably not so much for payroll, if they offered direct deposit to all banks. But thanks for the info.

According to my friend who is already at the park, direct deposit this year will be through Firstar (there is one in Meijer.) I've had a Fifth Third bank account since before last season for direct deposit, even though I never got around to it, so this is not cool.

Don't take this as the gospel however, it is second hand information.

Agh! I hope not!!! Fifth Third is my bank here at school, too, and they are the first bank account I've had that hasn't had ridiculous surcharges... If the bank has changed, I will be walking myself to the nearest Fifth Third, and not switching around complicated bank stuff just for the summer!!

ok..just got off the phone with HR...the direct deposit bank is firstar. You have to wait to get up there and open the account through the sandusky branch. Firstar will be there for you to open the account with during the first few paydays if i remember correctly...not all the details have been worked out yet.
I personally HATE 5/3, I have a national city account and love it. Of coruse they have banks in MI, IL, OH, and IN and for some god knows why reason they give you your checking account number in MI, where i live, with 10 digits. Thats the same as IL..my first summer, I went to deposit my check at the Sandusky national city and in Ohio and Indiana, the checking account numbers are 9 digits! Who is the genius that thought that up? So I do all my banking through the ATM machines in Sandusky, not much of a hassle at all and I can trnasfer funds and what not online. Anyone that is at CP, do they still have the national city atm in commons lobby? They better!! 5/3 sucks, cause they're "free" checking is a joke, if you use that jeanie card as a debit anywere, they charge you 50 cents everytime, doesnt sound like much, but it adds up. Peace out

I just write regular paper checks... doesn't charge me anything. *Oh well, now I have something new to figure out...* Aggggghhh!!

Ha that is weird my account with 5/3 just got closed (due to circumstances beyond my control and yes this is the truth)and I decided to open an account with Firstar.

"And His Last Words were Huzzah."

I wonder if they are shutting down all the 5/3 accounts that CP employees had last season. hehe they can have my thirty two cents.
Don't know Don't care.Becasue of what happened to me with them I now hate that bank.
Don't worry because they can't do that... When you open a bank account somewhere, they can't just close you out because the place where you work is switching banks. It would be like closing your account on you because you changed jobs. And even if your account was to be closed, they would alert you first... don't worry about losing your money. I myself will be foregoing direct deposit this summer and continuing to bank with 5/3, as they are also my bank here at school and opening a new account with another bank, then closing it, is not something I want to deal with.

In short I am glad they are not doing direct deposit with that bank. But at least they are not doing it with Key bank. They are worse than 5/3 in my opinion.

"Welcome To The Human Race Monkeybutt."

Yeah, Key revoked some loans of mine for school without warning after first promising all the parties that the funds would be tranfered. I'm now going on with a battle with them.

I hear ya the tried to screw my dad over with a bunch of B.S. and now 5/3 is trying to screw me over with some different B.S. So I am going to have to battle with them.

Anyone know the direct deposit bank they are using this 2005 season?

I currently use Bank One and sadly found out to make a deposit I'd have to drive 25 miles out of town or mail my check to a branch. Umm.. no.
