Hey guys ...
Not too long ago I was asking a few questions about working at Cedar Point and now it all seems like everything has happened so fast!
I've got the job and will be on the magnum crew and am really really excited .... I'm going to be leaving Australia and moving overseas and I'm really excited!
But anyways, I had a few questions.
I was wondering how employees are able to get ahold of the money that they are paid? I know that CP will pay you either direct deposit to a bank account or cheques. I definitely dont want cheques .... carrying a whole lot of money around on campus doesnt seem like a good idea.
Anyways, so I am going to set up an american bank account when I arrive in the states and was wondering if there are any sort of ATM services for employees at CP? Im sure that there would be ATM's throughout the park, but I dont want to have to rely to the park always being open, especially during the halloweekends period when they are closed through the week.
I am aware that there are ATM's in the actual town of Sandusky, but I dont want to have to travel there every time I need to get money out of my account (for food and living expenses). I was just wondering how people usually deal with this issue? And I will be living on campus ...
Was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem or thought about it and was wondering if anyone could help me ...
Thanks for your time guys!

Yes, direct deposit is the best way to go in regards to your paycheck. It savees time and you don't have to worry about having a sum of money in a hidden spot. If you set up a bank account, most banks will give you a debit card that you can use at Cedar Point / around town. The common store (a store at housing), the cafe, merch stores at the park, most stores in Sandusky will accept a debit card as a form of payment.
Yes, there are ATMs at the park / at housing, but there is a fee (it's like $2 every time you use it). So, I would recommend you using your debit card instead of going to the ATM every time you need cash. ($2 fee times X can add up quickly by the end of the summer.) If you do need cash, I would recommend going to that particular bank ATM instead. Or when your at Meijer, Walmart, Kroger, etc, use your debit card for something, and then when it says: Do you want cash back? Click yes, and then type in the amount you want back.
The housing charges will come out of your paycheck directly.

Thanks heaps!
Do you by any chance know which bank's the ATM's are in the housing centres?
I mean, are they Chase, Wells Fargo, Bank Of America??
Cos I know if you had a card with a certain bank and then use an ATM with that same bank, that it wont charge you any fees.
Or is it just a general ATM that will always charge you a fee every time you take out money?

It's a general ATM that will charge you no matter what, ive never had to use it though cause I just use my debit card to buy things

Alright cool, I see what you mean.
So when you just buy things you cash out the amount you would need instead of using the ATM ..
Thanks for the help guys!

The ATM's at the park and housing aren't associated with any bank, so you'll pay the fee regardless of where you put your money.
Do yourself a favor and look into a credit union instead of one of the big name banks. You're virtually guaranteed to be screwed in some way by all of the big banks (the American banking system is a sham). You get all the same benefits with a credit union (debit card, ATM access, direct deposit, and all the usual banking services) but are less likely to get shafted. Here's a list of credit unions in Sandusky.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
Sincere thanks for all the help guys!
Appreciate it!
