Backwards for Hallow-weekends

Are there any coasters at Cedar Point in which the train is turned backward for the Halloween fest? I thought I read somewhere that one was, but others have told me no. Thanks.

Nope, not at Cedar Point. You may have read about Colossus at Six Flags Magic Mountain. One side of the racer, since 1984, is turned backwards for their FrightFest event.

I do think that a cool change for a CP coaster though would be to rename Mantis to Banshee for the few weekends that remain in the season. I think it would fit right in with the Halloweekends theme.

That would be awesome to name it Banshee, but I think it would be better to try Mantis backward... maybe im crazy.

Some of the rides would be plain brutal backwards. but then again they aren't the smoothest forward either...

Its been discussed to do it on one side of Gemini. I say try it for a season. It wouldn't take much testing and pondering to figure out if it would work would it?

"Ive got the need, the need for speed!"

Why did they raise the Price up for the Tickets up $1 today or yesturday? Do they need more money, or did they just do that for the fun of it?

I can barely ride Mantis forwards. Backwards would have to be pure hell. And I don't think they'll ever call it Banshee, because there's obviously a reason they changed its name in the first place, but it would be cool if they did.

They really ought to follow KI's lead and turn one of the Gemini sides backwards, though. At least for Halloweekends.

It's called Millennium Force, not "Millenium" Force. Thanks.

In the past it has been said that turning Gemini backwards would be tough because they'd have to re-configure the hardware under the trains in order to do it. But now they happen to have two extra Gemini trains sitting around, so in theory, they could just pop off one set of trains and put the reversed trains on for Halloweekends. It would be pretty awesome.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you

It's not quite that easy Ralph...

Haha. Like I said, in theory... my own simple minded theory. :)

It is quite simple reverse the chain dog and anti-rollback dog and you are done, right?

When did they ever change its name? It's been called Mantis since it opened in 1996...

Wow, that's a good fact that I didn't know! Back then, the first information that I got about CP's new additions was in the Getaway Guide, and it was called Mantis in the GG for 1996.

As alot of people would like to think, it's not just that easy.

Well if you can explain it to me.

Astroworld used to turn the last two or three cars on XLR-8 backwards... maybe Iron Dragon could do the same?

Last night, I was thinking, Disaster Transport would be the most gentle ride for turning a car around.

Gemini's end helix would hurt going backwards unless the trims were on hard.

Dark Ride, Backwards, maybe a new thrill, Humm. :)

GATEKEEPER-I came, I rode, I was mildly disappointed; until a second ride (rear left) put GateKeeper back on the...it's a nice ride list.

If they rename the ride Banshee for Halloweekends does that mean I get to count it as a NEW credit?!
