background check?

Well today I was informed that cedar point DOES want to hire me but has to do a background check....how long do these normally take? What is involved? I'm not a felon or anything like that lol was just curious as to what may cause a FAILED background check?

You won't as long as you have your social security card with you, and you fill out the proper paperwork.

Hmm..paper work eh? Its about a 3 or so hour drive for me to fill out paperwork and I was notified via email today and was told hopefully could start by next week...eh we'll see

oh well processing in requires filling out A LOT of paperwork. I know a drug test is involved too. Processing in to work and housing took a few hours, because not only did we have to fill out a lot of paperwork and do drug tests and such, but we had to sit through training videos and listen to lectures about whatever

I can't give you CP exclusive data but I have done my share of background checks.

They take anywhere from 3-5 days, sometimes longer (upwards of 3 weeks or more!) if there's a large influx of requests, to process by an outside company. Usually it just looks to see if you have any kind of criminal record, if not then there's no problem.

Even if you have something on your record just make sure to place the info on the application, I have known people who have had info in their background check that they did not put on the application and they later got fired for lying on their application.

Most standard background checks are just criminal and do not involve credit, though I have seen times where they do! Also some companies consider the reference and job history check as part of the background check.

Before people go crazy and say oh well, last I checked don't drug test everybody. Only those who will be supervising, controlling rides and any large machines were tested during my times. There were random tests also. But as mentioned before on this site, normally that involves suspicion of a group or party. If a roommate or teammate gets busted, expect to randomly appear on the list for testing.
