NEVER believe the local (Columbus) news reports when they say "the North will get hit will occasional scattered thunderstorms later in the evening."
Wendy (fellow cowgirl and CP chicken) and I arrived at CP shortly after gates opened. Dropped off our pop and lunches at the picnic area and off to Raptor. Got 2 flights in, then got freeway'd for it for 1-2. Apparently the one thing I didn't know about Wendy was her ride on WT 3 weeks ago scard the crap out of her and she would
NOT go on it again, so I didn't even ask. (No offense but my 29 rides this season so far has been fine with me) We leisurely walked around the park hitting Gemini (blue train-we win!!) CCMR, she waited in line for Maggie with me and I
ALMOST had her convienced to ride but she ditched at the last second. Good thing too cause a hold was called and we stopped on the lift hill for a good 4-5 minutes. Wendy would have come
UNGLUED! Maggie was really kicking butt and made me regret my "last car" decision.
On way back to lunch we stopped at PT and actually rode it! Yup-that's right Raptor Jo has actually ridden PT 2x this season!!
Gasp! We did shoot up however. Wendy even liked it although she screamed holy murder the entire shot up. Stop in the PR office to find someone
ELSE sitting at my desk, then Sandy reclaiming
MY desk again. Ya know that pic there of the carousel horse needs to be changed to a big pic of Raptor (just kidding! ;)) NO BE for me but stopping there was fun anyway. Wendy is amazed at how many people know me in the park and after the PR office she just shook her head. I also got to see and briefly talk to someone I hadn't talk to in months, that was very nice for me. Back to Raptor for our freeway - then to lunch. We PIGGED out big time-back to park. Got Wendy on Wildcat and could
NOT stop thinking about Dave's antics on it last week and was still cracking up over it. Wendy didnt like Wildcat though, something about it feeling like it was going to fall off the tracks. Then believe it or not she asked to ride Mantis. I was
SHOCKED-she wont touch MF Maggie or MS but Mantis?? 30 minute wait which to
ME is too long for it but ok. Actually she loved the 1st hill but hated the rest of it, saying it cracked her head too many times. I have to agree, whether the ride is getting more rough or maybe due to lack of rides this season I just never noticed it does pack a "punch" and the paint on this thing-
BLECH! Man it looks
BAD! We rode a few other things again then when on line for DT (around 4:30pm) we got kicked off the line thanks to thunder warning. All rides shut down. We headed back to picnic area to wait for the storm to pass-there was
NO passing to this thing! I
HATE thunder and lightning anyway with a
PASSION and some of them were freaking
CLOSE! We got to sit there and watch other
DRENCHED people make their way into the picnic area, It was
POURING. I layed down on the bench and actually started to fall asleep (
warning: do not EVER get horizontal at CP because then you will know how tired you really are!!) We waited a good 35 minutes before deciding to leave. Wendy had mentioned leaving more than 1x so I knew she was hinting. I had plenty of CP so leaving then was ok by me, this way we decided we could even stop at barn on way home and clean our horses stalls and even sneak in a quick night ride. We made the drive to see the new tracks. Headed back home in a
DOWNPOUR-Wendy was freaking cause at times it got so bad we couldnt see! On way home Tony and Hooper called to see if we were still at the Po!nt, I sadly told them we were on our way home. Wendy was amazed at how I was getting calls from CP buds to see if I was still at CP. Yea, the life of a celebrity ;)
By the time we hit Bucyrus
NO rain-not a drop, Columbus bone dry too. I don't mind the rain really but if its going to cut short my CP day at least hit Columbus and water my lawn and flowers!! W did stop at the barn and our horses were
NOT happy to see us (dinner time) but got over it.
Wendy had a great time again and was even talking about buying a season pass for next season! Uh oh - Ive created a monster!!! :)
High Po!nts of my days: Low crowds and awesome beginning weather, seeing Tyler, seeing ride ops I know, seeing some dude who asked me if that was me on Discovery Channel, stopping in the PR office, gettng Wendy on PT and Wildcat, taking pics of the new tracks, getting a 2002 Halloweekends button :)
Low Po!nts of my day: Not staying til the GTTP meeting :(, and the freaking rain :(
Other than that it was a perfect CP day!!
Did anyone hear any rumors that UCISECBMLPUHF and Raptor Jo may be working at CP this fall? Man I heard that and can't believe that!!! ;)
To my GTTP'ers who called me and who I missed: We will have to get together again soon!! I missed you guys!!! :) Especially you Hooper!!! :)
