Baaaaaayside

Questionable:

Alright. . .in the Bayside Apartments. . .does each individual bedroom have a locking door? . . .in addition to the regular old locking hallway door?

That is all! ;)

no. the only lock that is on the doors at bayside are the apt. doors. as far as I know, there are no individual locks on the bedroom doors....I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that they don't lock.

There are no individual locks on the doors in Bayside. There are ways of getting around this if you have minimal do-it-yourself skills and know how to install a locking doorknob, but if Housing catches you you may run into trouble. (With my thieving roommates last year, I decided to take the chance). Housing really should install locks in there.

Hehe growing up with three older brothers, I was quick to install a doorknob that locked with a key on my door. I have the mad skills. That's a shame that it's against the rules. . . but if I 'run into trouble,' it's easily reversable.

Yes it is a nasty no-no if you're caught installing your own locks.

That is crazy!! Since I am coming April 1st, the only place I have to stay in at first is Bayside. I am bringing my computer and my GameCube and I want to be able to lock the door to my individual room. They should really provide locks.

Emu, how far is CP away from your home? Could you do without the computer and games for the first month and then move to Commons and bring them then? Only one of several possible solutions...

... I want to be able to lock the door to my individual room....

Iindividual room LOL... If 4 people is individual.

The reason you can not and should not install your own locks is for fire safety.

The only one I remember last year (well besides when my roomate tried to burn the apt down by cooking a pizza and then falling asleep) was the one because of the guys below you Jon.

The popcorn bandits..

I'm coming from Charleston, WV. Its about 5 hours away. Since Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker comes out just five days before I leave, I am definately gonna need my GCN for the first month. Unless of course I beat it in 5 days. I guess I will just have to kill anyone who I see with my gamecube or computer later in the year if it ends up missing. I WARN YOU ALL!! I AM NOT A SMALL GUY!!!! 6'3'' 240lbs.

I've suggested this to other folks and I think it works well: put the GameCube, games and controllers in a locking trunk in your room when you're not using them, and just remember to lock it! ^_^ Your could put your computer in there, too, if it is a laptop. Of course, as you said, your size might be intimidation enough. ^_~

I plan on getting a footlocker from Wal Mart or Meijer's when I get there. I'll lock whatever I can in it.

See, I didn't realize these locking trunk/footlocker things existed. Now that I know that, I do indeed feel better. I was lucky enough to get a laptop for Christmas, and I look forward to having that nicety with me this summer. Now, I just have to find and purchase a 'locking trunk.'

Just don't hide your key in someplace obvious, like the sock drawer. ^_^

Locking trunks aren't always the best solution. It's very easy just to pick up the entire trunk and carry that out.

Thats why you should get a trunk that has some type of sturdy metal handle so you can chain it to your bed. But if you live in a Commons dorm, you can put most anything that you don't want stolen in your locker.

Last year, I left my cell phone sitting on my dresser while I went to work... BAD IDEA

I came back, and my roommate had used it to make a call to Lord-knows-who for Lord-knows-what...

I learned from that incident that you really can't trust people not to go through your stuff...
