Awesome Trip

Just got back to Nashville, TN after a road trip to Cedar Point. Did Mammoth cave which was great, the Cincinnati Zoo(also great) and the casino in Cincy which was just a waste of money. Casinos are stupid. Obviously Cedar Point was the best part of this trip.

Gatekeeper and Thunder Canyon were down but I couldn't be that disappointed with the most thrilling day of my life and I'm 34. Did rides from open to close with a fast lane ticket so I was at the point of wanting to throw up at the end. I had to stop briefly a couple of times when I got too dizzy. Did ever roller coaster there except Gatekeeper and the 2 kiddy ones. Repeated 5 of those but only had it in my to do MF and TTD once so I repeated Maverick, Magnum, Raptor, Iron Dragon and Rougarou, all of which were more then kickass enough for me at the end of the day. Did the two water rides that were open and the only 5 thrill rides worth riding.. Windseeker(scary as hell), MaXair, Power Tower, Witches Wheel(really enjoyed it but it was nearly empty all day. Very underrated) and Sky Hawk. Really a very awesome trip.

Question for anyone who's been to both Cedar Point and Kings Island..

Cedar Point was great and I know its better then Kings Island but are the coasters there thrilling enough to enjoy a trip there? From where I live its a 8.5 hour drive to CP and only 4.5 to KI. So I could drive to KI early, go there and drive back in one day. But Cedar Point really requires me to do 3 days with 2 nights in a motel. So I can do KI with much less time and cost.

I just spent a whole weekend at Kings Island and it was well worth it. I liked Diamondback, The Beast and Banshee the best. There are great coasters there as well. But I would suggest you stay overnight there because you will probably be too tired to drive 4.5 hours home at the end of the day. I'm 4 hours away and I stayed there the whole weekend and enjoyed every minute of it. I wish I could go there more often.

You should definitely make a trip to KI... Just because it may not be as good as CP doesn't mean it's not worth a visit... If you limit yourself to 'only parks at least as good as CP' you're going to miss a lot of enjoyable places/rides/experiences...

I haven't made the effort to get to Kings Island yet. I am guilty of comparing everything to CP before even going but when I live one hour from CP and KI is I think somewhere between 4-6 hours drive from me it's easy to do. I'd like to visit there and Kennywood some time which is actually closer to me but still a good 2 and a half to 3 probably so still in the range of needing a hotel if I want to get a full day in open to close. Having CP almost in my backyard all my life has spoiled me.

Diamondback is a different ride than any ride at CP and is worth the trip in my opinion. B & M hypers are incredibly well engineered rides - to the point that some feel are over-engineered - and if you really like roller coasters I think it should be experienced. I dig the back seat. Banshee is very good as well. The Bat shows what Iron Dragon could have been. The Beast is a old favorite and the rest range from average the crap, but still makes for a great day.

To being an "us" for once - instead of a "them"

Go and do KI. That way you can stop wondering ! If you like it,you'll know you want to go again,if you don't like it at least your 'wondering' is done/gone. I try to do KI at least once a year,Diamondback and Beast, day rides and night rides. DO NOT GO for the Halloween Saturdays, absolute madhouse !!!
