I drove up from the Detroit area Thursday morning and arrived about 9:15am. I decided to try an alternate entrance and went around to Soak City. Since I had not been back there before, I wasn't too familiar with it and it took me a few minutes to figure out the entrance to the park, but at last I did. We decided our first ride would be Dragster, the line looked long, but the wait said 45 minutes, it was actually closer to a half hour. This was only my second time on Dragster, so I was scared to death, but immediately wanted to do it again. By that time the line was quite long and I didn't want to wait it out, so we hit the back of the park and did Gemini and Mean Streak. We waited for the Freeway Pass for Dragster and then decided to leave the park and go check in at the hotel. It was so hot and crowded that it just was not enjoyable, so we just needed a break to get something cold to drink (I hate pepsi products) and get in the air conditioning. I had a nice room at the Fairfield Inn compliments of Marriott points I get through work, so it was nice not to have to pay for anything. We headed back to the park around 4:30 and decided to try Raptor, it was about a 45 min. wait and we got the front seat. This is the only coaster I've been brave enough to ride in the front and I loved it. We took a walk back to Millenium, but the wait was an hour and a half, too long for me. So we hit Iron Dragon and then headed to Mantis, the wait said 45 minutes and it was 5:15 and our freeway pass for Dragster was for 5-6p, but the gal at the gate said the line was moving faster and we would have no problem making it to Dragster by 6pm. Well the wait was long, more like an hour and 10 minutes, we ended up waiting but really disliked that coaster, just not my thing I guess. We raced over to Dragster, thinking for sure they wouldn't let us in, but luckily they did. We got in line and got the last seat, I didn't pay attention that we were going in that line, but my friend and I loved it. We then headed for Power Tower and did the drop and then immediately went back and did the space shot. We again headed for Iron Dragon and waited for the front, which was sort of cool as it was beginning to become dusk. Decided to head back to Dragster, as I really wanted to do a night ride on it. We again waited for the back seat, got up to the launch and just waited and waited. We sat there for about 20 min, they had made an announcement that the ride was temporarily closed and they unloaded the train behind us. But no one came to tell us anything and we were not allowed to get off, we just sat there. It was a bit freaky as I didn't know what was going on and didn't feel completely safe. They did not send a test train out, we were the test train I guess, again it was an awesome ride. We then decided to try Raptor at night, we were going to take the Sky Cabs, but the line was so long that we just walked up to the front of the park instead. The wait was about a 1/2 hour. While in line they stopped a train midway up the lift hill and then we saw a crew member walk up the stairs, lifting a safety restraint on someone, still don't know what that was all about, but I sure hope someone wasn't stupid enough to try to undo the restraint. We got a front seat ride again and then my friend wanted to ride MaxAir at night, so we headed that way. I waited for her, as I don't do spinning rides, I was half tempted to go ride Wicked Twister but for some reason that coaster scares the you know what out of me and I didn't want to ride it alone, so I vegged out for a while. We left the park a little after 11PM and stopped at Friendly's for dinner and then headed back to the hotel for some much needed rest.
Saturday morning came way too fast and we were out of the hotel by 8:15am, grabbed some stuff from the free breakfast bar and made our way to the park. We parked right up front towards the side, as I wanted to go in the Marina entrace. I kept thinking it was a long walk and hoped it would be worth it, boy was it! Thank you to everyone that has suggested using this entrance, we were in the park at 9:10AM and had our first ride on Millenium by 9:30AM. I kept waiting to see if they would ask us if we were resort guests, but they never did??? My friend and I decided to get right back on Millenium and get brave and do the front seat. Now this is a real first for us, we are both chickens that have to usually ride in the middle and hold on for dear life. Well we did the front and I actually let go towards the end of the ride. We decided after that to wait for the Freeway Pass and this is where we encountered our first and only rude CP employee. He was an older gentleman and just plain cranky. Told us we were stupid to wait in line for the Dragster Freeway pass, as we could wait in the line ride the same amount of time. Well maybe on somedays, but the crowds were unbelievable on Saturday, so I just ignored him and kept my mouth shut so that I could get my stamp, we waited till the time changed for 2-3P, so that we could get our other pass. We walked towards the back of the park, it was nice because it was shady and a bit cooler. Rode Mine Ride, which was ok and then headed for Magnum, the wait said 30 min., but it was closer to 45 - arggh. This ride doesn't do much for me, I'm not sure why, but one ride on it a trip is enough for me. We tried to hit Corkscrew, but the wait was an hour, so we tried Power Tower and that wait was 45 min, nope, won't wait that long. Grabbed a quick and totally disgusting lunch and head for the Dragster Freeway line. This was a nice rest, as we got to sit in the shade, behind the fence and chat with some nice people. About 10 min. before the line opened, people started lingering around the front and trying to blend in, this didn't sit too well with all of us that were waiting, a few arguments insued and the security needed to come over and kick them out of line, although security let one couple get stamped even though it was blatantly obvious that they had cut, oh well what are you going to do. We got a stamp for 4-5, which was perfect since I wanted to leave the park by about 7 for the drive home. We again tried Power Tower, but too long and headed for Iron Dragon, this wasn't bad, maybe 25 min. wait. We then headed back to Millenium for our pass and waited about an additional 35 minutes for the front seat and this time I did it with no hands the entire time, what a rush, I'll never go back now!!! By this time we decided to head towards Dragster and sit and relax a while before our Freeway pass, it was so hot and we were both tired, so we chilled for a while and then went to get in line. Again we decided to wait for the front row, it didn't look like a bad wait, but it ended up being about an hour additional, it seemed like forever, but boy was it worth it, I've never experienced anything like it and again I didn't hold on which was quite different. By this time we decided to start heading towards the front to leave. We went to Raptor but it was an hour and a half wait, so we headed towards Wicked Twister. I checked out Disaster Transport, but it was an hour wait, so we went over to Wicked Twister, the wait was 45 minutes, but this was going to be our last ride so we decided to wait it out. Got the last row and it was great and scary at the same time. We then unfortunately had to leave and make our drive back home. It was sort of bitter sweet, as this was the end of our trip and also the end of my time with my friend, as she lives in Romania and is flying back this coming Monday, so I was a bit sad. We ended up getting home around 10pm, so I didn't think that was too bad.
Now I'm trying to figure out when I can go back and hit Halloweekends, looks like I'll be going it alone though, as none of my other friends are interested in Amusement Parks!
What was the wait for Dragster, & Millennium last Saturday if you recall...
