First off, I was this arrogant BEFORE I made this thread. Just clearing that up right now.

Nothing has gone to my head, I actually wanted to reach the people who WOULD flame me on this. I'm glad I got a good response and all but my target audience with this post was NOT people like Dan and Jo and Jeffrey Spartan and Old Timer Tim and DBCahill...

What I'm saying is that there have been enough "Thank you for these forums" threads and you know what's happened? Putz has closed them all. I made this post to have an effect on the overall quality of posts here, or at least attempt to, not to make a post to say thank you to Putz. I believe the only "thank you" he needs is a little more thoughtfulness and intelligence put into some of the posts here. Most likely, that would make him much happier than a tagline in someone's signature saying "Thank You Jeff Putz" which just looks out of place and strange.

If you think I'm being arrogant or whatever and you don't like my message, either come up with a GOOD argument that I will actually think about for a nanosecond before disagreeing with, or please don't post in my thread, thanks.

P.S. "grateful"

(the more you know)

Ok I have been reading this page for a long while now and this topic finally brought out enough for me to break my silence. I don't condone what some people say on this page, some of it deserves to be ignored. But what alot of people say they don't mean to be offensive, or annoying, and alot of you people, especially Jeff, jump all over them like they are retarted or somehting. As long as this is not a pay site then it is a public site and you must remember that. And with the stupid rules listed above maybe you should make it a pay site Jeff, those rules remeind me of something that Hitler made for the Jews. I felt insulted to read them and I think everyone here should too. Don't you find it insulting that Jeff talks to you like you are a 5 year old?? I think Jeff that if you did make this a pay site like you threaten to every day that you will lose a hell of alot more money because you only have a small group of loyal followers that would pay it and you would lose advertisers because your # of hits would go WAY DOWN. I love this page, don't get me wrong.......but Jeff I think you need to just relax......get laid or what ever it is you do to unwind.....and just have fun with the site......like you used to. Just some observations. That is all I have to say about that
Oh yeah one more thing.......I think you better be nice to the people in the employee lounge.......nothing like getting a harness or lapbar jammed into your gut this summer!

Well I must say that Natalie has inspired me to nuke someone just for being outright stupid. Comparing me or anyone to Hitler is not only insulting, it trivializes the Holocaust. I'm not even Jewish and I find that to be so insanely insulting that I'd be flinging four-letter words at you if you were standing in front of me, or if this were some other non-family oriented site. The only thing I hate is the presence of stupid people.

What's worse is that people online can't differenitate between personality and pricketry. Natalie and I have personality, almost a cleaner "Stiffler" kind of thing (unless you meet us in real life, then the "F" words begin to flow). Cahill has loads of personality, so much so that he led dozens of big thinkers into thinking that the park was really going to build a restaurant with blue food.

I don't care about being popular, and I don't care if this site is visited by 12 people. I didn't build it to be popular, I built it to have meaningful conversation about one of my favorite places on the planet. You're a part of that or your not... I honestly don't care. The only people I talk to like five-year olds are people who post like them.

CpLifer:

First off, for the next time you register an account to troll, please remember that paragraphs are good. I'm gonna break this down so if you come back here, you can read it easily:

The rules I posted were Lowtax's rules from somethingawful.com like I said. That site is extremely successful, as are the forums.

The only way you get talked down to like a 5 year old is if you come across as one, as Putz already stated.

Pay site/public site is irrelavent. No matter what, HE still pays for the site, thus HE can run it however he would like. I happen to think that he has been fairly lenient with giving people warnings and second chances when they do something dumb.

Your comparison to Hitler is vile. That is all. Nobody's forcing you to participate here, and certainly not over at SA.

And as for your second post, which could have conveniently been inserted into your first post, by means of an edit (isn't that what this started over anyway?), I hope Cedar Point Rides management doesn't find out who you are in real life, if you work there, because you will most likely never work there again after a comment like that. They DO watch these forums you know?

I now return you to your regularly scheduled forum-going.

Not to totally back up CPLifer, except for this point: Yes Ride of Steel you are right, Cp Management does watch these forums, but they do it cause its funny. All the Mgmt that I know hates this site because of some of the nonsence talk that goes on here. Most employees actually make fun of this page because of the rumors and what they think is going in...ect. I know crews that purposly watch for you guys just to make sure that your harness is on extra tight, wouldn't want you to fall out! Not that I think its right but it does happen, and mgmt won't help you in this situation.

I know there might be a few here that could use this message, but there are quite a few more over at Coasterbuzz. It's probably because there is a wider range of people, but the troll count over there is rising...
You know Jeff,
You DO kinda have that "Stiffler" look to you

Anyways.. I said it privately and I'll say it here. Well Done Nat.

Lately I've seen alot of boards I visit go down the tubes because of useless posting. To the point where the owner had no choice but to either charge for use, or shut down the site for good.

I hope neither of these become Jeff's final options.

Someone who found it cute to pin GTTP members in 2000 was "reduced" to running a flat ride because of complaints.

Think whatever you want... the people who matter watch things closely around here, because when something ain't right, and the biggest fans start to complain about something going on at the park, they're smart enough to know that the public perception isn't likely much better.

Ok, I guess its time for me. I think Natalie and Jeff and anyone else who has agree have a really good point. I think this is a really great forum site. A lot of the people seem to have very valid opinions and points. I originally started viewing this site around April last year, but started posting in October. Honestly, I thought forums were just a waste of time, but GTTP proved me wrong. I really like reading the posts and opinions here. There have been a lot of things that I did not know and that I found interesting that has been mentioned here. I also like the community environment. Sometimes I feel like I shouldn't say anything at all, and sometimes I feel like I should. Most of the time I do, because I feel every opinion counts. Like most other people on this site, if I do know a fact of some sort, I'll try to back it up.

I think it is the opinions and facts that are made and presented here that make this is a good quality forum. I think that shows, because you do read tings that might upset you, and you read things that make you cheer with joy. It's human emotions, more specifically it's all for 1 amusement park. To me it's just like taking about sports. Like a team losing or winning the championships or something.

And for those who think I might be sucking up or brown nosing, I'm not this is how I really feel, and I would support Jeff in anything he might want to do with GTTP.

coastermaina, let me relate a story to you:

Back in 2000 when I was Assistant Team Leader of the zone 4 sweeps, I had a member of management APPROACH me and tell me that she knew that I posted on this site and to watch what I said.

And from working on coasters and such, I know that many times we were told that anybody who "99'd" someone and was caught (i.e. the guest complained, or someone told, or management saw you) would immediately have disciplinary action taken.

In conclusion, the people on this site are the people who know the park and love the park, and smarting off to them, and stapling them....well, let's say they all know how to go to Park Operations and complain. Management does care about that, sorry.

And before you go off figuring I'm just some guest who thinks they know everything about the park, I *did* work there for three summers, and *do* feel that I know what I'm talking about at least as far as this matter goes.

I do agree with Ride of Steel on most of what she is saying. People do need to think before they post. It makes the whole forum reading experience 100 times more enjoyable. But you have to remember that people make mistakes and post things that should not be posted. I am sure all of us have done it at least once. I do not agree with people getting jumped on or rude remarks made to them if they post something that is inappropriate. When people do this they are going right down to the level of the person who posted the inappropriate comment. I have seen it done, not often but enough to make you notice, by "High-Ranking" people both here and on Coasterbuzz. If someone does make a comment that should not be in a forum the moderators should contact them by email in a one on one situation. Otherwise, things blow up and people get offended. Like Jeff always says, if you have a problem with me email me about it. If the moderators have a problem with someone email them about it. Do not make a comment in the forum that make things explode. I think this could solve some problems since groups turn evil really fast and the best way to solve problems is one on one. Its not a one way street with who can make so called "stupid" comments. Lets ALL take a minute before we press submit reply. It will make life a lot easier.

First, Raptor 2, I totally agree with that entire statement. It said it all! I hope everyone reads that.

Second......Ride of Steel.........only 3 summers.....thats it.....I have you beat by alot of summers! And the Mgmt only care what you say on this site if it pertains to the park and stuff we should not be saying........like accidents......new rides ect. The same stuff they scan everyother Cp web site for. And from what I ahve heard, Mgmt finds it very annoying when you guiys come in to Park Op. to complain about every little thing. Give them a break, they have more on their minds then who gut checked who.

So you're saying the people who put food on their table annoy them? I'm sure that's exactly what their bosses want to hear.

Perhaps you shouldn't speak for them.

I have to agree with Natalie. I’ve been here for a few months and the only thing I can say I dislike is when someone says something mean, rude, or just plain stupid. I thank Jeff for running this site so we can talk about something we’re all passionate about. We don’t need people that are just here to criticize and bring people down. I personally think Jeff goes too easy on some people; so don’t criticize him for “jumping all over everyone”. Once again, I thank Jeff for this site. Let’s just get along with each other, and remember there is only 2 months until CP opens!

coastermaina,

Uhhh, stapling people on purpose for what they said on here is moronic. I remember a while back, that the MF crew were given a print out of a particular thread and had to read it. Obviously Management cares if they did this.

Staple Nazi's suck, and I've had a person press down on mine 3 times! I was irate. Oush down gently and pull up, don't trust the bar into someones stomach.

Just an observation: Wouldn't someone who worked at the park for "alot(sic) of summers" know how to spell his own screen name?

Carry on!

That is about one of the most hilarious things I've ever seen, and after following Internet communities for seven years, it's totally true!

You know, someone out there needs to write a good book on Internet community culture. The more of it you see, the more you see patterns forming, and the more you know that the way you run your moderated forums is very near correct.
