area 51

Last year this forum was popping. New topics every few minutes. Before the anouncement, it was called area 51. At least I think it was 51. What does area 51 mean ? Just trying to bide my time till June 1st.
Area 51, also known as Groom Lake, is a secret military facility about 90 miles north of Las Vegas. The number refers to a 6-by-10-mile block of land, at the center of which is a large air base the government will not discuss. "Area 51" has become a popular symbol for the alleged U.S. Government UFO cover-up.

Area 51's contents were a mystery, and at the time of TTD's infancy/groundbreaking, the area was dubbed "Area 51" to signify the mystery of what they were building there.

That's what I thought, just wasn't completely sure.
BTW, Any Area 51's this year??

I heard they removed Swan boats. What is in that area now??

It's basically the same except the swans are gone. Maybe Walt snapped a photo or two on Opening day, it seems he gets a photo of everything ;), maybe he will have one up.

That's a pretty big toilet.

It's Cedar Point, everything is big.

than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Discriminating against the lighter colored sea gulls?

No, the stupid sea gulls just crap everywhere else...

But then again, what do I know?

I will be there next monday and will snap a bunch'o pics from that swan area.
When we were at the park Saturday, the topic came up of what would be a good place for a new attraction in the future. A friend of mine immediately mentioned the old Swan Boats area, which I will agree with. I also thought that the Cadillac Cars, or other car rides they have could be the next to go for a new attraction.

Just guesses of course.

I dont' know why you want a "bunch o pics" of the swan area, there's nothing there....if you want to know what it looks like imagine a pond with no swan boats in it, that's pretty much what you've got
I dont know, you could make a pretty cool ride with some super-charged swan boats. Now there's something you wouldnt see everyday.

"Arms Down"---Yea Right!!

That wouldn't work, Cedarpointmaniac. No way to properly restrain guest on "super-charged" water rides. Besides, who does't like working there butt off peddling those boats when it it 95 degrees, how relaxing........not
All the park did for the Swan Boats was take out the dock and boats... the queue is still there, as for some reason I took a picture of it. (who knows why, if you figure out, tell me!)

As for a new Area 51, how about Area 51 being the Planning & Designs office? :)

Well Joseph, I personally think the swan boats are very relaxing. All you have to do is find someone to ride with, and let him do all the peddling. But as far as the restraints go, the 1 inch rule would have to apply, just for safety reasons.

That's fine cpmaniac, if you want to go round and round in a big ugly swan :)

The Antique Cars in Frontier Town are a wonderful center piece to the town square. I hope they don't ruin the ambiance of the area by removing the cars to make some space for a coaster.

What would make sense is moving the Wave Swinger and using all that land between Thunder Canyon and White Water Landing.

Well, I'm going to be at the park on May 24 and will take a pic of every square inch of the Swan area. I'll have a tape measure, string, and markers with me to completley audit the former Swan area for measurements. ;)
