I just wanted to post something new on here that hasn't been discussed yet. You ever been in line and notice the ride operators stopped the ride because people ignored the policy of having no cameras, video cameras, or phones out while riding? I have noticed that a lot this year and yesterday for the first time, I noticed the ride operator actually made the riders get off for having it their phones out. It was Windseeker by the way. Apparently, these people were trying to video record they're experience. That's why I created this topic. What does everyone else think?
I think you used too many letters and an extraneous apostrophe to write "their."
On topic, I think anyone who holds their heavy brick of a phone out on any ride should have it confiscated and turned over to police. I don't care if you have a 5s, that damn thing would kill someone if it hit them in the head because some ahole lost his grip while Vining his Matterhorn ride to his stupid friends and ugly family.
Ive been stopped twice on GateKeeper this year for someone having their phone out. The second time i saw it, after the ride, the kid was escorted out of the park. I think it is incredibly inconsiderate for someone to try to shoot their own POV when there are plenty of POVs on the internet! I also see people texting on rides. In my opinion, if you can't wait a maximum of 3 minutes to answer a text you have a severe problem.
Yeah it irritates me when people feel the need to whip out they're camera or cell phones because when the ride operators stop the ride, it makes the rest of us wait longer. I'm surprised when the Windseeker riders I saw yesterday were booted off the ride, that security didn't follow them out.
I think it's good they are stopping rides when they catch people with phones and cameras out. But I don't know if they always catch them. After reading a horror story on here a few weeks ago about a loose article on Magnum, I don't know if they always catch them, but that was just a freak accident and may not have been a phone or a camera. It could've just been coins flying out of someones pocket.
I feel that I got a better chance of winning the lottery than getting hurt on a ride. CP's safety record is one of the best in the world. If they catch anyone with a phone or camera, they should be escorted out of the park.
Yes, people are too carried away. I had to laugh at the comment in another thread about somebody being mad because they aren't allowed to take pictures of the on ride photo monitors. I've seen people getting off of Mantis complaining because the photo booth is closed as if viewing a photo of yourself is what completes the experience and you should feel robbed if you can't. I remember leaving the park as a teen perfectly happy with my look through photo keychain as my only picture evidence of the trip.
People are not only carried away with technology, they are carried away with themselves. Society is filled with rude narcissists who think their time, comfort, convenience, etc are more important than that of anyone in the vicinity.
Smokers in the park, outside designated areas, are a great example of this.
^^^What MaverickLaunch said. Too many people with an inflated sense of self-entitlement.
I'm a Marxist, of the Groucho sort.
Cameras and phones are not permitted on rides because of the safety issue. I don't know about any of you, but I don't want to get smacked with a phone going 50+ miles per hour. Also, there is a part of the Ohio Revised Code that says something to the effect of: Failure to comply with a ride host in regards to safety is a misdemeanor.

What happened on Magnum a few weeks ago? I missed it?
I can't find the thread, but someone's girlfriend got hit in the eye with a loose article, but she's ok, just a bruised eye.
It was becoming almost routine that Gemini was stopped because someone had a phone out.
Everybody has to capture the moment and share it with everyone else.

I read the comments and hear everyone's concerns about phones and cameras. There is NO way anyone should have out their phone or camera, in their hand, doing whatever it is they are doing while on that ride. You cannot guarantee that you will be able to hold on to that device while on the ride. And the chances of it coming back and hitting you or hitting someone else are pretty high. It's just not a good idea.
Now, what do you guys think of Hero cams being strapped to someone's chest or wrist? I would not recommend the head strap, as that could fly off. But the chest and wrist straps are both very secure and locked tight on your person.
Thoughts?
Nobody should take ANYTHING on board. There are plenty of offical POV's on YouTube. Cedar Point even makes their own and they are very good quality.
Ticks me off when this happens. I wish people would just listen and follow the rules. It happened to me on Gemini when we finally had a good race about to happen. Some num-skull pulled out his camera phone and just when we made the turn to the lift hill I saw a crew member running down the planks to the lift hill and as soon as we started up the lift hill they stopped the red train to confiscate the phone.
It all seems like a good idea to take pics on rides and videos on rides but I would not want to get hit by a phone at 50+ MPH or cause someone else to either.
Like someone else stated before there are plenty of awesome official videos from Cedar Point (and un-official I might add as well) out there, use them. Keep the rest of us safe and stop ruining rides!!

Thank you for someone else sharing my anger and frustration...
There are times I just want to walk up the lift, grab their device and just drop it, but luckily I have integrity and a bit of decency or I'd have done it...But seriously, put it away and in a bin and leave it there for a few minutes while you ride before you injure yourselves, others, or make me carry your broken glass phone to lost and found to be claimed later...just annoying
I will say loosing a wig on the ride is still acceptable...it's freaking hilarious haha
