Arcade Mechanic questions

Hi all,

Well I think it is safe to say I am hired for the 08 season as an arcade mechanic. So I have a few questions..

what does the uniform consist of? I know for ride ops you need white shoes. Do I have to get white shoes as well or will Brown hiking boot style shoes work?

Who else is gonna be working in the games department? I was talking a bit to Dani, who is a games clerk...Just trying to see who else I will be interacting with

And a question about the games. I know a lot of outside games are leased to Cedar Point. If something goes wrong with those how is it dealt with? Are we responsible to fix it or do we just leave a note or something to the people that own the games?

Any help anyone can provide would be appreciated.

Thanks

Your uniform is navy blue pants and a light blue button up shirt. I'm not sure what the shoes are, but for some reason I don't think it's white tennis shoes.

You are responsible for fixing the games. For example, things go wrong with hi-striker and you have to go fix it so the game can make money. Well, as far as I know. I contact the mechanics when there is something wrong with a game and it's your responsibility to get it fixed.

Hey there, I stumbled upon this thread and thought I'd add a few things.

First of, I don't think any of the outside games are leased. However, most of the arcade machines are leased by Alpha Omega Amusements. I've done my fair share of time in the arcade, as an arcade host, and how I explain it to people is that if the game looks older than you, it's probably not an Alpha game. A lot of the games you'll be working on aren't the most reliable of the bunch, and are typically the ones customers (I mean guests) would have problems with.

Secondly, I think you landed yourself one of the best jobs in the games department. (Unless they put you on lockers) You get a lot more freedom than most other jobs, and you won't have to perform as many mundane tasks as other positions.

I was thinking about not putting who I am in this post, but I don'tt hink I posted anything inflammatory. I was arcade supervisor last year, and I'll be returning this year. Don't worry, I don't have much jurisdiction over you. (Or anyone else for that matter.)

Anyways, if you have any other questions send me a message. I'll probably be able to answer it.

Actually what I meant by Outside Games were the newer arcade games that are leased from Alpha...meaning if a monitor went out in an Al[ha game for example, would we repair it or how does that work.

Luckily the older machines are what I do a lot of work on...All of the games in my gameroom are classics...I think the newest one I have is either Paperboy or Outrun.

Sounds like it is gonna be a good job. I think I am gonna enjoy it..

Cool to get to know another of my co-workers (and supervisor :-P)
See ya on the first

Josh

Ugh....If I remember correctly last year i was extremely disappointed with the games that they needed to "fix" seemed a lot of out of order signs on the Alpha games....but whatever alls fair :)
