I am currently 17. To have housing it says you must be 18. On the website it says high school diploma. It will not let me register for housing when I click the "I will require housing." What should I do... Press I won't need housing and explain during my interview?
Will you have graduated high school by then?

Then it should not be a problem. It is weird its doing that. I just got done with mine and it gave me no problems.

Try sending an email or calling and asking about that. I am sure someone will be happy to help.

I don't think they're meant to be up yet. I think they are still fighting the bugs outta it. I'd wait a week.

Uh, I'm pretty sure they meant for them to go up this time. All the copy on the jobs site has been updated to say "Apply now"

I had the same problem with the housing thing. I won't be 18 until April 2nd, and it did not seem to realize that I would be 18 by the time I needed housing. I emailed Human Resources about it.
Thank you. I just put a note in where it asks for any more information that they should know about you. They'll understand.
Jeffcoaster,
While I know what the rules say about the diploma, I will say that they may never allow a 17 year old to live in the dorms again. I know it was covered here pretty well when it happened, plus in the news. A 17 year old girls parents caused a big stink about porn and a few other things just recently in the dorms. It was a PR nightmare. I know your not a girl, but it would look really bad if they allowed a guy and not a female to do it. Someone else can look up the stories (links) for you, but my guess is it's an unwritten rule now. Yes there are unwritten rules used by CP management!
I hope I'm wrong, but i'm almost certain that I'm not. Good Luck.

I got bored and looked up the story on this site. Look under the news forums. The story was posted by Walt July 16,2007. I tried to copy the link, but seem to be having issues with it.
But just having this story happen, is enough reason not to bother risking a 17 year old in the dorms.

If this story was true, they wouldn't have allowed 17 year olds in during the 2008 season. Now by dorms, do you only mean the dorms?
I'm sure if the policy has changed, Cedar Point would have changed their website.
I know the story was true, Walt doesn't post rumors like that. The Sandusky Register had the article. But you are right about 2008, maybe somebody (who was 17) can say that they lived in any CP housing (what I meant by dorms) last year. I know when I actually did hiring during work crew in 2005, I wasn't able to hire anyone in your situation. I was instructed to tell you wait til your birthday. But I did know a couple 17 year olds living in housing.
So as I was trying to say, I'm not sure if they would do it anymore after previous problems. As I said I think it's more a unwritten rule. They don't need to change any of the housing rules either. That would always leave the option open for the perfect job candidate. But unlike what everybody says on this site, they don't hire everybody that applies! There actually is a selection process. I personally think you should take the time and call HR and explain your situation. See what they tell you to do.If anything, they can look up your application and do what's needed.
I really do wish you luck. Working at CP is like no other job I ever had. The friends you can make makes you forget about everything else that you will hate. Again I say Good Luck!

I didn't have any issues with applying except that my zip code wasn't more than twenty-five miles away, though my house of my permanent address (I use my parent's address though haven't lived there for four years) is more than twenty-five miles...as I use to commute when I first worked at CP. I've had housing using that address since 2007 and I was asked in 2005 if I wanted the housing by my manager since she knew I didn't really lived there....Anyway I just used my permanent address as my current one out here in Wyoming (lol I think thats far enough) and my college address...so temp mailing address changed to the one I use usually as my permanent address...I'll just have my manager change it when she/he (depends on who I get this year) sends out my contract. The note about needing housing should be okay and usually asked by your manager anyway.
BUT lol besides all of that which was only a small issue on the whole, I had no issues with applying...
