How long does it usually take for an application to be researched, and the party notified?? I applied via the CedarPoint website acouple nights ago, and am getting anxious. Also - I am leaving for Orlando friday for aweek and I won't have internet access.. will this be a problem?? because I can always cancel!

Well after HR puts it on their computers, the departments you selected as your first normally gets first dibs on you. So there is no saying how long it could take.
You would stay to here from CP rather then go to Orlando. Now thats dedication.
For what it's worth, here's my experience. My wife and I applied (to different departments) at the same time. My wife got an offer, and then a contract, and I still hadn't even been contacted. So I called up and started asking some questions. Here's how it was explained to me.
Basically, if you check the "I'll take anything" box on your application, it goes to your first choice department first, where it stays for two weeks. If your first choice department doesn't "pick it up," it becomes available to all departments. But as soon as someone puts a hold on it, no other department can see it.
In my case (which may be unusual), the people in my first choice department (Rides) were apparently off doing job fairs and such the entire two weeks my application was with them. At which point, it became available to everyone and another department (Laundry) picked it up. In other words, my first choice department had never seen my application and now couldn't. It wasn't too hard to straighten out, though. (Basically, the person in Laundry not only took the hold off of my application, but then called Rides to let them know I was available. Which I thought was very nice.) It was smooth sailing after that. But if I hadn't called, I might be folding sheets at CP instead of checking lapbars.
Applications are reserved to managers for your first job choice for 7 days. After seven days you will be released in the computer system for all managers to veiw your application. If you put down that you would not accept a certain job those managers will not be able to view you. If a specific manager puts you on hold they will be able to keep your application on hold for 7 days and then you will again be released into the computer system. There are never more than 2 or three managers from any particular division out on the road at the same time. It is not possible that all of the rides managers were out recruiting for two weeks. Chances are they did have a chance to veiw your application but did not contact you fast enough and, after 7 days, you were released into the system where Linen Services picked you up. Sometimes is is difficult for us to contact everyone we want to ( before they are released into the system) so we try to do what we can to pair you up with a hiring manager from the right division. But.. if you marked you would accept any position.. you are fair game for anyone :) If you are going out of town and want to interview as soon as possible I suggest you call 1-800-668-5627, choose the department option for your first job choice, and ask to speak to a hiring manager. This time of year there are not many managers there after 5:00pm. Even I am not there today !! I FINALLY took a day off. YEAH for me!. I work in Park Operations, but can interview for the entire park. E-mail me with your full name and soc number ( if you dont mind sending it through the mail) and I can have someone try to call you for an interview tomorrow.
Well, they *claimed* they'd never seen it. ;o) In any case, thanks for straightening some of that out for me. I knew my version was going to have some holes in it, since it was sort of pieced together from things I was told by the operator, the Linen folks, and the Rides people.
And, yes, I did put down that I would take any position, and I would have. That doesn't mean that I'm not going to fight for what I want, though. And if I had just said, "Oh, they never called me, they're not interested," I might not have gotten what I wanted. There's probably a lesson in there somewhere. :P
Hope you had a good day off Jenn...you definitely deserve it! :)
OK - here's another question for you.. How long after the interview does it take to find out the outcome?

I was hired during the interview... I am not sure if it is the same for all people though. I got my contract in the mail about a week and a half later. Just be sure to return your contract asap!

Actually, it's Ms. Smiles... lol. And congrats to ya! Myself along with two other girls on my floor had to wait to get our contracts until we knew what ride we were on though, which, is probably the same for everyone. It was great because we are all going to be working the Millennium Force this summer:) See you this summer!!!

Hey rOLLocoAST.. congrats on getting hired. Glad to hear it. Heather.. thanks for thinking I deserve a day off... One Hundred yellow.. hopefully, people who have applied will read your post and take your advise.. especially about calling. Be aggressive.... we get more and more apps every day ( which is really good for us.. we need them) but the more apps there are the harder it is to contact everyone right away ( which is really bad for us).. By the way, it is very possible that a ride manager had not viewed your app..It is rare to have someone one the system and not be viewed, but I believe nothing is impossible. I didnt mean to imply that they were not telling you the truth. It just isn't extremely unlikely that all the managers were out recruiting at the same time. Who knows.. the important thing is that you were offered a position and were able to be placed where you really wanted to be...
I agree with Heather, Jenn you definately deserve a day off!! You should take one more often!!
