application help

Hello everyone,
I filled out my application last night online. I have a few questions that maybe a few of you can amswer.

First, Im 17 and will graduate before I start work at the point (if hired). I don't turn 18 until July. Will this effect my chances of being able to be a ride op? I am very experienced having worked at two theme parks and with supervision experience so it's not like I don't know what I'm doing.

Next, I'll be coming from Las Vegas. Any tips on the best way to get to the point?

Finally, what type of stuff should i bring.

One more, what type of stuff do they ask you on the phone interview. Online it said call in 5 days. Can I express interest in a particular location at this point?
I don't know if being 17/turning 18 will affect whether or not you can be a ride op or not. The experience may help you there.

Coming from NV, I'd fly in then take a bus to CP, there will always be cabs there when the bus comes in or you can call one easily and they know right where to go. Or else I'd take the bus all the way, even though it would undoubtedly be a long, boring trip. If you're driving, grab the 80/90 Ohio Turnpike as quickly as you can and follow the signs.

For what type of stuff to bring, search this site! There are plenty of threads with suggestions for that sort of thing, no need to relist it all here. The best suggestion: pack light! You won't have much room, and you'll be working so much you won't have time to use a lot of stuff anyway. Plus it's less to travel with!

The phone interview is no big deal. They'll ask if you consider yourself physically fit/athletic, do you have a problem working 50+ hours/week in all weathers, stuff like that. It's more of a formality than anything, don't sweat it. And definately use that time (and their quarter!) to ask about locations and any other questions you may have -- that's half the reason why they call! Especially coming from so far away, you'd hate to get there and not be able to stand it.

Enjoy! :)

Thanks.

I don't consider my self physically fit, but at the park I work at now we have to climb the roller coaster lift (about 100') occassionally and the 65ft tall lift of our water ride more than occasionally so Im not scared of heights and I can easily handle it.

Even if, Im not a ride op I'm sure it'll still be fun.

:) They always asked me if I was athletic, but I always said that I'm not in any sports or anything and I don't go to the gym, but I considered myself "fit." It isn't a problem.

I'm glad I could help!

hey vegas baddboy sorry i never came to say hi when i was in vegas last week. We only had 5 days and were EXTREMEMLY busy!! We stayed at circus but spent most of our time at other places at the other end of the strip. Hope to see you at the point! ~A
It's all good. The Adventuredome was a mad house. We were running full capacity on all rides. Boy did Adventuredome ops bust our butts! We had close to 10,000 people when the park is built for a mere 5,000. That means really long lines and no breathing room!

Anyways,
I hope to see everyone I've talked to on these boards. I just need some time away from Vegas, ya know, before college. What better place to spend the summer than working at Cedar Point!

Well, I could help. The phone interview is just like what everyone else said, however sometimes, like they did me, they will ask you, is there a paticular area of the park you want to work in, ride you want to be at, and they will do their best to cater to that.

"Ya know, I have had some lousy assignments in
the past, but this is an all time low..."
If you are 17 and want to be a ride op, in the past they made you a sweeper so you could still work in the generally same department and then when you turn 18 they move you to the ride. I don't know however, if that is the same since Sweeps are their own department now.
