Application

On the application it asks:

Will you accept any job offer? (This will maximize your chance of employment.) Should i say yes or no. I only really want to work as a ride host but if i say i will not work any other job will it look bad. Also should i just select ride host or still pick 3 choices.

Thanks for the help!

If you pick "any offer" you are going to end up working in Foods (not a joke). Just pick Ride Host for ALL 3 choices. That is all you need to do.

Thank you for the tip. I don't want to say 100% no with foods, but it is pretty close!!

Yeah you do. Unless you have a specialty like bar tending or serving, you won't enjoy foods.

Ya, i am defiantly not putting down foods.

Why’s everyone so down on foods? Oh yeah, that’s right. Your better than that. Keep in mind that almost half of all employees are in foods!

Give me a break, you make the same amount of money. But in foods, it’s always an adventure. There’s plenty of different things to do. I became an area sup and still hadn’t done several things. Unlike rides were it’s the same thing non stop for 16 hours. While it does happen if your extremely lucky, to get a server or bartender position, you have to earn your stripes first. Meaning you have to prove that you’re a good people person in a regular foods position. I found that promotion happens quicker in foods than anywhere.

And if you earn one of those spots, you will make more money than anyone easily! But you have to drop the I’m above it thinking!

That's funny to me because I don't think that way nor did it come across that way in my post.

I was basing it off of the 8 years I worked for the company and every foods employee I met or knew hated foods and did not return to the department the following year. I had at least 3 employees on average that would come to my department every season that worked in foods the previous year. All for different reasons. One of which got as far as platinum sup (or whatever they call it).

Unless you have previous experience in the food industry and want to continue it, Foods is probably not going to be a great department to work in if you are going there wanting to work in Rides as the above poster did. Putting "accept any offer" almost guarantees your hiring into foods, you have to admit that.

I will agree on that easy. And yes people complain and moan all the time. It's a character builder to say the least. But it also CAN be the best paying job in the park. And the one thing I never hear anyone complain about is making serious money!

But there is a limit to where Money Vs. Enjoying your job will come into play. Not to mention you wont start making big money right away in Foods. It will take you a bit and before that time come, you would probably already hate your job. :)

If you get it in your contract, you're pretty much set. Although I've heard some departments do try to screw you out of contracted days off if they are short staffed. I never had a problem with it though, and I took a week long vacation this past summer in the middle of July.

That is, IF there are contracts;)

I always request 3 days off, but they are never on my contract like they should be, but my TL both years was SUPER AWESOME and gave me the days I wanted off! So, it wasn't a big deal!

You need to get these dates contracted off. If you don't you will probably not get both days off in August. If their contracted off, your TL/ATL can't do much but if not they can make you work those days.

"Riders on the train please stand up your seats are locking in 3...2..1!"

Even if you get your vacation time contracted off..make sure you remind your TL, ATL and Sup. (Maybe even put it in writing)

I worked on Power Tower in 2007 and I had a week (contracted) off. I told my tl and atl and even my sup..but somehow they forgot and thought that I quit. So when I came back to the dorms, they wouldn't let me in because my id card had been "voided out"

So did the situation ever get resolved?

Yeah, I called my super and he "put me back in the system" and all was well. I had to stand in the rain for about 10 mins before the lady at the front gate would let me back into commons.
