Anyone who has worked on ride photos?

Hey anyone that has worked on ride photos.. I'm curious about whatever info you can give me on things like.. How many pics are taken vs how many you sell? What ride sells the most photos? The profit margin on the photos? If the margin is better for say keychains than just standard pics, the cameras have to be replaced, etc? Whatever behind the scenes info (especially financial) I'm really curious about! Thanks.

I worked Millennium photo last year and we seemed to usually sell at least one photo per train most of the time more. Last year photos were 10.65 (dragster cost more, although I can't remember exactly how much more) for one and then each additional was 5 dollars which is how we usually sold key chains and magnets. As for how many pictures are sold at each ride it really depends on the day. Millennium and dragster usually sell a lot and Mean Streak and Mantis barely sell any. I will warn you though since you are working with computers you will occasional have issues with your cameras, displays, etc... don't worry when this happens usually just call your supervisor and they will tell you how to fix it or come and fix it themselves. Overall it's a fun job! If you have anymore questions you can add this group....https://www.facebook.com/groups/519863631367693/

Enjoy the rest of your day here at Cedar Point, America's rock'n roller coast, Ride On!

Where I work we use restaurant manager software that tells us percent of labor per hour based on our sales during that same time period, is there anything like that used for the photo shops? If something measures productivity like that for the photos at Cedar Point does it do it per ride or is it for the entire photo, or even the entire sales department?

For Merch/Games/Food Service, managers use a measurement called a PERCAP to measure productivity. This number is the total sales for the location (or department) divided by park attendance for that day. PERCAP does a poor job of measuring photo since only guest who were actually on the ride are going to buy photos. So, merch also uses a modified PERCAP for photo which is sales divided by ridership.

PERCAP? i was in games last year and i never heard about that

The managers/sups would talk about it during their weekly meetings. Cedar Fair also releases a company-wide PERCAP with their annual report.

So is that the main reason they use turnstiles in front of a ride?
