I miss WWL quite a bit. It had become a classic. It was one of the last heavily wooded, scenic, old-fashioned areas of the park. I have a lot of memories of that ride dating back to its opening. The elevated part of the flume looking over the water was great at sunset. It was peaceful and quiet. And of course, the only log flume.
Maverick is a very good coaster that greatly exceeded my muted expectations. But I would much rather they put it somewhere else. Even the parking lot.
White Water Landing was my first real "adult" ride. I used to hate coasters and when I made my first trip to the park, White Water Landing was the limit of my thrills. I used to ride that thing over and over and over again, like my own form of ERT.
When they announced it would be removed, it really didn't hit me just what was happening. Not going to the park all that much in 2006 also didn't help.
It really hit me this year when I started working on Maverick that White Water Landing was no more. I miss it, and really wish there had been some way to keep it. It was truly one of the "hidden gems" of the park, if you ask me.

I went twice this year, and the second time I went, I missed it even more than the first time. It really was a good flume ride, and it was a very relaxing break from the intense thrills of CP.
Now to respond to Danny's Phantom Flyers.... That used to be the American Eagles at Kings Island and holy cheeseballs that's probably the best flat ever. I miss them so much :'(

I how the train went through the "wilderness". I mean it's cool to go by Maverick, but the wooded area was good too. It seems like so long ago. I only rode WWL a few times. I wish I would have gone to Cedar Point before 2003. I only discovered my true love for CP in the past couple of years so my vision of the WWL area is fuzzy.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
^Seriously, let it go about White Water Landing. I think it is obvious the park took out a great family attraction. Kinzel noted this on the CoasterBuzz Podcast back in 2005. WWL had its problems as well which was one of the reason it isn't around anymore. Rides age and if their ridership/cost don't justify then they have to go and be replaced with something that will justify, Maverick has undoubtedly done that.
As for a new log flume. I don't think that idea is out of the question for the future.
