Anyone else taking the risk sunday?

We decided to go too and it was an awesome day. Got 25 coaster rides total and even Maverick was a walk on and this was with GK and Raptor down due to wind. The best riding Sunday I have had in all my visits. We left at around 5 and it still had not rained. We hit heavy rain in Port Clinton on the way home though (SR 2). I don't know if it ever made it to CP or not. I hope you all had fun as well!

Got there at 2. Around 6, we marathoned Millennium Force with an open gate until it started to rain around 6:30.

Was there from 5:15 to 7:30. no crowd,no lines. did TTD until the rains came at 6:30. stayed on TTD platform with Bob,'single rider chick',Kenny,Ralph, & Dave waiting to see if it was gonna be a quick, short rain. At about 7:00,the platform got a call to take shelter. TTD crew and us went into TTD electrical control building for the shelter. Was in there about 15 mins. till when the storm/rain subsided.

We didn't get there until a little after 4. Radar looked good when we left the house. It sure didn't stay that way. We got some rides in and the kids did a few haunts and then we spent a really, really long time sitting on the bench in front of the museum to stay dry before we decided we better head up front because it wasn't going to get any better. I had the ponchos in the car but since the radar had cleared out I didn't take them in the park. Stupid me. Half the parking lot and Cedar Point Rd. lost power at some point before 8 and the road was flooded in quite a few places.

I never ended up making it up there today. I thought it was weird that the webcam was down... perhaps they don't like people seeing the rain as it would discourage people from coming? I feel like now it's crunch time to get in at least 1/2 visits before the end of the month!!

I never had trouble with the webcam yesterday but I only use the still picture one.

As busy as it was today, does anyone know how bad it might be the day after? I am going tomorrow for my last trip of the season and don't want to disappoint him by bring him to a sold out Cedar Point.

Several years ago we had a plan to go on a Columbus day Sunday and had a room at Breakers for Saturday. We checked into the hotel and decided to go to the park and do the haunts with a starlight pass. It was a terrible mistake. Wall to wall people, no scares because of how crowded it was, 3 hour waits (for Mean Streak!), and it was hot with high humidity. It was just awful and was the last time we made that mistake. We went to the park on Sunday and it was just a normal day, I would say similar to a summer day.

I have been at CP on almost every Columbus Day Sunday for the past 10 seasons. For the most part it has been the most crowded Sunday I experienced during HW but nothing near like a Saturday from what I remember especially not as bad as yesterday. It ranged from a not so crowded summer day experience to a mid summer peak season crowd. We missed early entry ERT today, just didn't feel like getting moving. We are going to see how the parking lot looks and may still head up. I will be going up at least 3-4 more times before the season ends. I hope you have a good finale Shawn!

Thank you Smitty! ;)

We went Friday and it was a nice evening. Not empty, not too crowded. I was just a little surprised at the traffic back up on Rt 2 at Rye beach Rd. I have never seen everything come to a dead stop there. The whole right lane west bound went from 65-70 to a complete stop in a matter of maybe 1,000 feet and we weren't even at the exit yet. That was the only back up I know of Friday but I read some comments on facebook that people had trouble even getting into the park Saturday and claims of backed up traffic for miles. I'm glad we went when we did.

We went Sunday (yesterday) and it started off really crowded but after 8 pm the front of the park was pretty open. Would have ridden Magnum at the end but it broke down. We did not get to ride MF, TTD, or Maverick but we had low expectations. We had no idea what went on Saturday with exiting the parking lot. We were directed back to Soak City lot and am so glad because we were able to exit fairly quickly.
