Any predictions on the new Wing-Coasters name?

^I do check Screamscape sometimes and I do send some info to him sometimes as well (but only when its firmed up) and it does seem to be fairly accurate sometimes (except for the rumors that are obviously completely and utterly bogus from the get-go, but he does a good job at pointing those out).

That Disaster Transport 2.0 rumor however was an initial plan (or idea shall I say). It was a few years ago and it was under Kinzel. He wanted to find a way to fix the ride up again in some manner to keep the coaster count and not have to yank it out (though he believed the ride was such a terrible business decision in the first place). Fast forward to 2012, Matt Ouimet is CEO and he comes from Disney. The belief was he was going to take this plan into action (with his experience with the Space Mountain transformation). This would give the park a nice dark ride and rollercoaster combo. So technically it was a real plan, just a little late. In the end, Ouimet figured it'd be better to open up the view of the beach than to upgrade the ride. A good Wing Coaster will come out of it too.

As for the name, I agree with Lance...GateKeeper sounds a lot like a project name if anything (Though it technically is CP Alt Wing). We'll find out in about a month or so I guess.

I'm sorry but I have a real hard time believing this

I'm not the one who originally said it and it came from a very good source (who was not the Dippin' Dots or Lemon Chill guy). In addition, I'm not the one who told him of the "rumor" (and if I was, I wouldn't have e-mailed it when I did because everyone knew DT was more than likely on the way out). So obviously other people had heard the story. Some of you guys believe the most outrageous rumors and believe that all the statuses about the new coaster are directed exactly at everyone on the forum. It was legit, Kinzel wanted to keep it and he wanted to find ways to do it. It was never stated what or how, they could've torn down the building or just simply re-themed it. Either way it doesn't matter anymore, out it's coming.

Yeah, I also have a hard time believing that up until Ouimet took over 6 months ago, CP was planning on investing more money into a ride that's nearly 30 years old.

^Yeah, that part is a little sketchy. But there was a plan in place at one point. I'm sure DT's fate was sealed last year or the year before. However, Kinzel did want to update it. I should've added that the last part probably was enthusiast fired seeing as I hadn't heard anything past the original plan.

GateKeeper on the other hand does sound like part of a project name "PROJECT GATEKEEPER". GateKeeper does sound like it could be a decent name, but, I'd like to think another name is "out there".

Well Dick did say that there would be an announcement at this years Coastermania and there was so the planned removal of DT and SS atleast goes back to Coastermania last year.

If that's the case, then I'm changing the name on my jersey to say Keymaster.

A business would not let one of their products deteriorate over the course of 20 years only to pump a ton of money into it to "update" it. If they really wanted to keep DT around longer they would have kept up with it over the years. No one, not Kinzel, not anyone was going to update DT

^It is not that hard of a concept. The track of the ride is in great shape (especially for being inside). Besides the structure being an eyesore, it is also in fairly good shape. All of the themeing would be removed and new scenery (with a different story line) added. There were other reasons why he wanted to do it. He wanted to keep the building as a storage shed too.

So basically, they would let it deteriorate if they knew they weren't going to reuse that themeing.

I'm not saying it isn't possible, I'm saying it was never going to happen.

Plus, the building itself is crap, that's why it closes down when it rains. There's more to it than theming which would raise the price.

Didn't the building leak the second or third year of being built?

The ride closes because of it being a metal structure. Metal+lightning doesn't go well...

But, it closes in any rain.

Incorrect. It closes because when it rains, the roof leaks onto the track and disrupts the shuttles going around the track.

Gatekeeper is a sweet name.... it coould be a steel force type character with keys. And it goes with the keyhole element wingriders have.

I got it!

The new coaster is probably going to go hand in hand with the new front gate. The new front gate could look like a huge door, With a giant keyhole that the coaster can spin through. Hence the name gatekeeper.

I personally think GateKeeper is worse than Flight Deck.

I like the name flight deck, I also like Gatekeeper. I honestly like all the ride names Cedar Fair has chosen up to this point.

I have a question. Which Front entrance is Cedar Point rumoring to take out? Is it the first one where you buy your tickets or the next one up that scans your ticket or season pass?

Back Lot Stunt Coaster?

^^I believe the rumor is that not only is the $25 million going towards the new coaster, but also redesigning that entire plaza. Part of the Disney philosophy is that the experience starts before guests enter the park, as well as the first impressions last a lifetime, and I'd be more than willing to bed that they put a nice chunk of the remaining money (after the coaster) into the new enterance plaza.
