I'm not going to be working this season. I like the job, but it was time for me to move on to something new. I can pass along some of my notes on the job if you like. If you ask me, the key to the job is becoming an expert in CP cash handling procedures and how the cash registers work.
As far as hanging out with non-sups, its ok as long as you are just friends or the person doesn't work in merch. They don't want you rooming with one of the cashiers, either. They will go over the non-fraternization policy in detail at company training.
As a practical matter, I never really hung out with the cashiers.Part of the job involves trying to figure out who is stealing in the department. I didn't want to deal with possibly having to turn in one of my friends.
Cash handling the CP way, Proper counting of money, looking for signs of a fake void. Does the staff member look all over while dealing with the money. Does an experienced employee seem nervous for no apparent reason. Unfortunately had to be in on a few of those investigations. But while I start out wanting to defend the staff member, the auditing department normally always proves me wrong. Thus, I have to take each employee to visit the CP police. Before they are processed out.
