Any other park improvements?

Does anyone know of any other park improvements, such as coaster facelifts? I was just curious... Mantis needs a paint job so bad, seriously folks! Let me know....
I have heard that the Mantis station and queues will be getting a facelift for 2003, along with it's paint job.

Do you think the Mantis station facelift will be as funky as the Gemini station facelift?

Michael

The Gemini facelift most likely won't be happening until 2004, which is a good thing because I have a feeling that the park will be very busy next year and we'll need to be able to run six trains.

I meant the Gemini station facelift that Gemini got over last offseason... it looks so funky, it was almost hideous the first time I saw it... but it grew on me as the season progressed. I just don't want that sort of hideous thing to happen to Mantis, even though I really don't ride Mantis much anymore since the boarding time increased...

From a Mantis employee of this past summer gone by, I too can vouch for the rumors of a MAJOR Mantis facelift. I've heard everything from Freeway, new queue design, totally new station (larger) to hold more guests, paint job, to possibly even putting the thrid train back on. Well see what actually gets done or not, but it all of it does, Mantis will once again be super sweet.

what about those jumping fountains? does anybody know what happened to them?
That sounds like a cool deal. Hopefully they will be able to hit interval with the third train...possibly even build an unloading station. That would go along with a queue redesign, and possibly a path running from Corkscrew past Iron Dragon to the MF midway (although I wouldn't be expected a new path).

Gemini's station was actually painted during part of the week during HalloWeekends last year. It had the lavender paint in the station already when I went in August, and then when I returned for HalloWeekends, the whole station was painted. Probable paint left over from Talon. :) I liked the paint job from the moment I saw it. Very '70's.

I believe that they couldn't implement the jumping fountains without a major overhaul that would cost a lot of $$ so it was scrapped. I would like to see it become a reality though. It sounded really cool.

The jumping fountains will not becoming to Cedar Point... sometimes companies will give an estimate for a project, and then turn around and say it will cost almost twice as much as the original price. Same thing happened in Sandusky, so Cedar Fair backed out.

Gemini was painted to match the Jr. Gemini theme. It's as simple as that.

You would think it would go the other way around, Jr. Gemini would be painted to match the Gemini theme, but they did this instead. Oh well, its all good.

Watch for some significant changes in the park for next season in the areas of railings, fences, and ride queues.

Sunday I spotted markings in the Raptor station for the new queue design. In particular it looks like they are squeezing in an operator station at the back of the platform. That's gonna be a real tight fit unless they knock down the existing station wall.....

...but why would they change the Raptor station? Seems perfectly fine to me...

I agree zero-g what is wrong with the raptor station. I have always liked the station. I think that it is fine without air gates and unless they are required to have them I say they leave them off. Isn't the fact that it doesnt have air gates allow for the such fast loading they have going?
I personally think if they add air gates, (out of their own doing so, not having to lawfully do it) it's stupid. The Raptor Crew has been hitting perfect intervals all year, and I think that adding the air gates would screw them up.

No, they haven't been hitting perfect intervals. They have been beyond perfect. I've never seen a ride crew move like that... ever. Most of the time that I have been watching (not anymore, but during regular operation) the train approacing the station has not stopped for more than 1 second before moving into the station. Many many times the train doesn't stop at all!

How would they build a new station for Mantis, paint it, redo the ques for Raptor, Mantis and the new ride? On top of it all, BUILD the new ride and put in a new operating station?! That sounds like a mighty big to-do list in 6 months...
