Any One Know How Long It takes to get from Kings Island To Cedar Point?

My Husband and I are traveling from Maryland and staying at a hole in the wall hotel near Kings Island. We plan on riding like three rides at Kings Island and then go directly to Cedar Point for a four night Stay. I went on map quest and it says it takes almost 4 hours to get from Kings Island to Cedar Point. Does any one have any experiance with this?

Yes, a roughly 3.5 to 4 hour drive is very realistic.

7 TTD rides.....1 Roll Back
3rd train of the Season on MF! 2007

Top Gun I have done this before, years ago. We had gone to (P)KI for the first time the year before, and were planning on spending 2 days in (P)KD, thus buying a season pass was going to be worth the money. Since we were traveling to Atlanta, GA first from Appleton, WI. That first day we drove down to Cincinatti, bought our season passes (only to find out the SP office was closed for the night, however we were able to enter the park and process them at (P)KD) and went directly back to the Beast for about 5 night rides.

I'm from Cincinnati, and that's a pretty good estimate. It's right about 4 hours driving a little over the limit, but if you drive fast and don't hit traffic, you can make it in about 3.5 hrs.

Now, now, we want to promote safe and legal driving habits, don't we? :)

I have a related question to this topic. What is the best (i.e. most direct) way to get to KI from CP or vice versa? This summer I plan on doing CP and KI on my week off and would appreciate any pointers anyone could give.

First of all-to have a nice hotel- i suggest the hampton inn or the

kings island resort. I have made the drive in 4 1/2 hours. The way, i went

from kings island to cedar point is 71 north until you see the exit for

250 west around ashland. Take this exit and follow 250 into sandusky.

Thanks rollercoasterlover.
Another option you guys might want to consider for hotels is Red Roof Inn or Days Inn on Mason Montgomery Road one exit south of the park off of 71. There is a skyline chili within walking distance of the hotel (I'd personally stay away from it, but that's up to you) as well as various other restaurants, walmart, and krogers on the same road. McDonalds has those roomsaver travel books as well as try roomsaver.com. Be careful though because some of those deals offered are walk in only. Best of luck to you and have a great time.

When arriving at cedar point, i suggest the cp resorts for a nice clean

room and one hour early entry and other benefits. Have a great time.

Nine days till first trip of the season.

Thank you For all of the great answers. TOPGUN1993 we only plan to ride 3 rides at Kinds Island because we have a Kings Dominion 2.5 hours from where we live and it has most of the rides that King Island has, and we can't wait for Cedar Point.

The drive should not take anywhere near 4.5 hours. Take 71 North to Columbus, then 270 West to 23 North. Take 23 North to 4 North and take 4 all the way to CP and the whole trip should only take about 3.7 hours and you avoid the traffic on 71 (two lanes most of the way north of Columbus so it backs up).

We stayed at the Red Roof in Mason for two nights back in 2005. I would not recommend the place. For some reason there were dozens of teenagers staying there. When we returned from the park those nights the kids were hanging out in the parking lot and on the second floor balcony. They were noisy and somewhat and left us feeling uneasy. I kept looking out to see if my car was OK. I'm do not think they were with a school group or anything. Could just be a fluke.

Now we stay at the Comfort Inn on Fields-Ertel Road in Mason about a half mile from the Red Roof. It costs a few dollars more but, we think it's worth it. It's about 5-10 minutes on I-71 to KI.

I recommend staying at Best Western. Its 3 minutes form the park, clean, has a hot tub and pool. and was only 59.99

Yes! The Beast is the reason we are going to Kings Island in the first place. My Husband is a big woodie fan :) They have a drop tower type ride that I'm interested in. Any other rides I shouldn't miss while I'm there?
