Yeah and many kids are afraid of opening there closet because they have seen movies with a load of crap. I think it could affect the people that are on the border of riding a coaster for the first time or saying no because of what they have seen in the movies.
But it's a minority mainly because this will have no affect on people that have been on coasters before. Maybe a little thing in the back of your head might pop up and scare you, but thats all apart of the fun. :)

101 on Magnum and counting...
I am thinking the only people who may be affected by the movie would be younger kids. Not sure of the rating of FD 3 but would assume not many younger kids would be seeing it?
There was a movie several years ago called "Roller Coaster" about some loonatic who placed a bomb on a coaster. VERY far fetched NO way would anyone beable to get away with what he did.
I am sure no one balked at riding a coaster after that movie!!
As a former (Raptor :)) ride op I can tell you the safety standards built into EVERY ride explains why there are very few accidents vs. the number of riders these rides handle on a daily basis.

Lifetime Raptor flights: 1077 :)
It's all about getting around the barrels, or over the fences, right leads, no faults, fastest time and looking pretty when done. What's so hard about that?
I saw the movie poster outside a theater here last week. Cheesy looking movie, but pretty cool poster.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
I'll still ride rides after I see it because I dont believe Cedar Point would build anything unless they knew it was going to be safe.

I saw a preview for it tonight when I saw Just Friends (quality funny movie). I will probably see it when it comes out, but it looks like New Line Cinemas have gone a bit too far.
EDIT: I believe it was called Screamer while at Boblo, but is now called Corkscrew at Playland amusement park in British Columbia.

I really hope this doesn't get a PG-13 rating. Has to be R or it won't be as good. *** Edited 12/17/2005 2:13:00 AM UTC by Rapter Rocks!***
The trailer has been there for a while now. I like going to the movies so I'll most likly see it.

Ill probably wait till it comes out on video. but ill see it.
does anyone know which roller coaster they are on? or is a fictional one done in the FX lab?
"Ive got the need, the need for speed!"
It is a coaster that used to be at Boblo Island (an old amusement park that was located in the Detroit River between Windsor and Detroit) which has been relocated to another park. I don't remember the specifics, but it is somewhere around here.

sweet, it's almost Feb. 10th!!
Just to let you know on there site somewhere you can get free tickets to an advanced screening in larger town throughout the US for Feb. 8 (2 days before) Note-you must be 17+ to attend. I can't find the link to it-but I printed out my ticket a few days ago.
Just saw a commercial for it. I am not into movies like that, but if you put a coaster in a movie you'll get me to watch almost anything :)
RIDE ON, and ON and ON and ON and ON and ON...
FINally!!! I saw it!!!!
First- I loved the movie.
Second- Leave the kids at home.
Third- The roller coaster scene was lame. Didn't scare me at all.
Fouth- ...the rest of the movie/aftermath is kinda creepy.
It was like a cookie cutter of the first and second. The whole plot went too fast.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
