Any new news on theming?

Has anyone heard anything recently about when/if the wheels, engines, etc. will return? I thought those gave the trains a real cool look and I REALLY don't want this ride to go the way of DT as far as theming goes.

I have heard two sides to what they are going to do with the theming. One was that they are going to put the engine and tires back on. The problem was the wheels were spinning ( coming loose ) after a train would make a complete circuit. All they need to do is screw the tires down to a more secure area on the train.

I have also heard that they will not be putting the tires and engine back on because Cedar Point does not want to be responsible for any unwanted deaths in the park due to malfunctioning parts.

I hope they get the tires back on i think it complets the whole "dragster" look. If they cant find a way to get the tires back on, they still hae tons of other sweet looking themeing...

I don't know why everyone is so worried about the themeing. Other coasters are themed, but the trains are all normal trains. Theme parks usually leave the themeing to the surroundings, not the trains.
I dont think anyone is really worried about the themeing as much as we feel it completes the ride experience (look) and would like it back.

Personally, I think adding additional seats, would be great due to improved capacity (who likes waiting), but given the choice I would put the themeing back on. Making the engine and tires one piece of fiberglass would certainly solve the problem. It may not look as authentic, but it would work.

I'm not sure on my logic here, but I figured it'd only boast capicity around 120pph. So if it's running 1000 now, it'd get a 12% jump.

To me, it'd be nice... But I'd much rather have the engine and tires, I thought those looked great. I'd rather wait an extra 15minutes.

I loved the look of the engine and tires, but any capacity increase would also be great. I was wondering if there could be any compromise. Adding 2 seats to each train, bring the spoiler back, and maybe add exhaust pipes. The tires looked great, but it they were the primary problem leave them off.
Why do we care about the theme?

Because it looked REALLY COOL.

Could it be possible that they are putting the Trains back on the transfer track in order to put some/all of the themeing back on?

It seems to me that themed coasters often do have theming on the trains. California Screamin has a sound system in the back of seat. I think that would weigh alot. Woodstock Express even has theming on the front of each train. I do think TTD's theming is maybe heavier than other coasters.

I want to see the theming come back because having seen it with and without it, it just looks WRONG without it. (yes, it does deserve the bold, cap, italics) Honestly, when i went back i couldn't get over how wrong the ride looked to me! and there are alot of rides that have themed trains, including xcelerator, the prototype for dragster.

Dueling dragons theming on the trains didnt do anything for me.

Anyway, Somebody over at CB said that they put the trains on the transfers and added some metal plates that the theming used to sit on, It was taken off when the theming was taken off. Sounds like theming could be coming back.

hey, i'm not too up-to-date on this whole deal with the theming part of the cars...if someone would infrom me about anything they know, i would really appreciate it..
They used to have a motor, a spoiler and authentic dragster wheels, the wheels were spinning so they were taken off and "repaired". They put the wheels back on, but a wheel flew off when it came into the brake run. Then they just took the whole themeing off of the backs of the trains.
thanx for the update

Yes other trains do have themeing, but the themeing is usually part of the body of the train, not ad on parts.
Everybody wants to ride front car, right? Can you really see the tires & engine from the front seat, anyway? I couldn't. Once I got on it, I didn't care if the theming was Village People Rocket. I just wanted to fly. I'm not concerned with theming at all. I am, however, concerned that while standing in line a tire could come off the train and make me look like a grease spot in the queue.

i don't care what the trains look like when i am on it either, but i do love to watch them when they are themed, it is soo cool watching those things hit ludicris(sp?) speed, while looking like a drag racer.

While I do think the themeing looks great when in place. It will not impact my decision(sp?) to ride or not. In time they will most likely get it all back in place along with any other themeing to put final wraps on it. It is great now, and it will be great regardless. Just not quite as cool.
