Any new news on the fate of Mr. Hydes nasty fall?

If they can get past the township's height restrictions for that area!

Well, right next to where MHNF was is Steel Venom. it is 180' tall. Geauga Lake falls right on the county line and is in 2 different cities. I may be wrong, but I thought it was the Aurora side of the park that had the restrictions. I think MHNF was on the Bainbridge side. Even if there is a height restriction I would think they could go at least 180' like steel venom.

Would it make sense to move DD to the location of MHNF? Since CP is trying to get rid of DD anyway... and it IS a lot smoother than MHNF.

Wouldn't it be better for GL (If they were to decide to put n any kind of drop ride.) for them to put in an S&S Tower and not re-install a ride that may not be as popular. (Correct me if I am wrong but it seems that PT always has way longer lines than DD.)

Don't anger the Potato People.

Y'all ready for some serious sidewindin' in 2007?

Mean Streak 03

Those were the days.

I don't see them putting an S&S in at GL, Maybe an Intamin 3rd Gen (I BELIEVE TAHTS IT) like Acrophobia (SFOG).

Well, unless something changed, and i haven't seen anything concerning this subject, then here's how it breaks out with cities and zoning.

Let's go back a little. Sea World and Geauga Lake. Back in 2000 GLP was primarily in Bainbridge Township. The only part of GLP that was in Aurora was the old boardwalk (where Subway was), TurtleBeach, the speed slides and Rainbow Island. Right? That's why when you bought beer at the Boardwalk or had it in the Ballroom there were signs telling you not to take it out of the area. If you went back into the park it would be taking alcohol across county lines ;)

Aurora had some limits to that part of the park, I forget what they were. Not very tall as i recall; but that wasn't an issue because it was a built out part of the park and there wasn't room to expand with 43 and Sea World and the owners association. And why bother when you own some 500+ acres in Bainbridge? Including west to the Cuyahoga County line north of 43, north to the north side of the rail tracks and all the way east to the camp ground and encircling your biggest competitior, Sea World.

Now Bainbridge, a township remember, had a set of height restrictions with the highest at 43 stepping back to the lowest along the parks northern most parcel.I believe the height back by the rail line was around 65 feet while the limit along 43 was 150 or maybe more. The biggest problem for Bainbridge is that they are a township and have very little power when it comes to legislation. Everytime the park wanted to build something and Bainbridge didn't like it, they would pass an ordinance and the park would take them to court and win based on the fact that the park has been there a lot longer than the current residents living in the area. Exactly the story with the rip cord ride down by the floorless in the swamp. That was planned years before it was built because it was tied up in litigation.

Now Aurora didn't have any ordinances on the books for the Sea World property because they had a little piece in their deed specifically stating that they couldn't build "traditional" amusement type rides. So why bother with the ordinance if the park doesn't have any reason to build upward? That all changed when the park was sold to SFI. Now i can't remember if the city has any new legislation on the books regarding this issue. I would guess that if they got their act together the limit would be rather low. Aurora and GLP haven't the friendliest relationship since the city lost a ton of tax revenue with the merger of the parks.

Now like i said this runs us through 2002 pretty accurately. If anyone has any more current info i would be intersted to hear it. City ordinances tend to change.

But what hasn't changed is that less than half of the developed park is in Aurora and something like 15% of their total land holdings. Bainbridge is a much bigger player in the planning and development of the park.

And the Hyde's location is definately in Bainbridge in a spot that has had higher limits.

LOL I don't know if it will sell with a description like this:

"Anual overhaul in 2004 including cars, barkes and pneumatics"

LOL. That is funny. I love these Intamin first generations. They are one of my favorite flats.

I thought the ride was scrapped?

They were not very careful when they tore it down.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I believe the ride was scrapped, but I think they sent parts over to CP for Demon Drop. I know it wasn't sold.

Supposedly parts of the ride are being used on Demon Drop.

I think Demon Drop is a great ride. The drop catches me off guard every time and it is just one of those classic rides.

It was scrapped. I do wonder, however, if they removed the wrong ride from the ITAL site. Demon Drop isn't listed anymore, but Hydes is. A case of mistaken identity?

Or, maybe they figured they shouldn't sell such a great ride. :)

I would like to see an Intamin ride like Drop Zone at Kings Island.

Drop Zone is pretty sweet... It would be a nice addition.

Mr. Hydes is actually list in the roller coaster section of the site. Were as Demon Drop is listed in the Spectacular Ride list and unfortunately it is still their. http://www.italintl.com/detail_page.php?record_id=565
