Answering Machine

Do we need an answering machine for our dorms or do they have an answering service?

Actually per the Cedar Point housing rules, you are not allowed to remove/change the phone provided by housing. However, I did know lots of people who had one as their is no answering service...

I didn't know you weren't allowed to change the phones. I did both years. I'm not suggesting you break the rules, but having an answering machine is very beneficial because with the crazy hours you work, it's hard for family and friends to get a hold of you if you dont have an answering machine or cell phone.

Can't you just hook up an answering machine to the existing phone?

No because most of the phones are old rotary phones. I think when I was in the Commons apartments for two days there was a jack out of the phone they provided so you could attach an answering machine or something.
