If I'm looking at the same thing you are, that is the hydraulic building.

Could someone point out where the grandstands are in the artist's rendering? I've looked and I don't see anything. Maybe I'm looking for the wrong thing.

I liked the idea of guests being able to have a professional portrait done in a dragster vehicle. I wonder if this is an actual car (like the hot rods in front of Coasters) parked near the Winner's Circle (if that was so, even non-riders could participate). I would like to see the floor of the Winner's Circle painted like a checkered flag just like at NASCAR tracks -- that would be awesome!!

And wow, even if it is "Archispeak," what a great vocabulary...!

pagoona,

If you look at one of the larger aerial overview wallpapers (the 1024 version appears to be mislinked to the composite picture), you can see the tiny little grandstand between the trees just outside of the launch track. Just look right across the track from the 'little Christmas tree' at the launch. I had larger grandstands in mind when I suggested them in October, and these don't seem large enough for a food stand underneath. Also, whenever that aerial mockup was drawn, they hadn't come up with the 'giant Christmas tree' idea. I'm sure the final product will be somewhat different in many ways from this drawing.

edit: One other note on that drawing is that the train on top of the hill is scaled way wrong. It appears to be about 75 feet long! Can that be right?

See... I told you last May there would be a restaurant on that midway, but nobody believed me! ;) In all seriousness, they've needed something around there forever. The Death Dogs next to Magnum are not something I can put into my body, and the next nearest "stuff" is either up by Gemini or back under Sky Ride or Coasters (not counting the Camp Snoopy dive, which seems always to be infested with strollers).

It was a great update - I am a little disapointed and surprised that there wont be any pictures at the top of the tower - the top seems like a perfect spot IMO for a very impressive picture.

Tom

But honestly, the calibration up there (winds, etc...) would be next to impossible. Maintenance would also be a pretty big joke.

I resemble that remark!

The burgers there are even more "well" done than in the rest of the park, if that is possible.

What's so hard to calibrate? Reflector passes by sensor, camera fires. It's not rocket science.

The problem is that some rides, Millennium Force comes to mind, are fired by a single reflector at the start of the train with timed bursts after that. That's great if the ride runs the same speed, but MF is far from consistant in that regard.

The controler boards for the on-ride photo's camera's are always having problems.

Put those 420 feet in the air and you have a problem. You can not run the ride with anyone working on a lift hill, or top of the ride in this example. Now you have downtime..

To even adjust the block camera's on Raptor I brought the ride down last season.

CP BOUND- I will have to admit that I was a "nay sayer" until March 1st,when I rode Xcelerator for the first time. I wasn't expecting much, but was surprised at how fun it was. I also agree with others about being glad that it's no more than launch, tophat, brakes. The two turns on Xcelerator made me feel like I was back on boring MF. So, after the drop on TTD, nothing will hold up. The thing I am anticipating the most is the spiral down. I kept imagining it while on Xcelerator!

I'll Have to agree with candy man on this one...Yes the launch and Top Hat are great on Xcelerator, but those "high banked turns" sure as heck arent to die for...theres no g's, its boring. Same with Millenium Force: yes the first drop and others are great, but despite its awesome air time, and speed, the turns are not only unimpressive, but boring...they dont do much to add to the ride.

I guess some of you CP fans (Big D) get caught up in how great YOU think your rides are that you forget that OTHER people that ride coasters world-wide dont think they are as grand as you do...

Sometimes reality hurts.

What you lack in intelligence, you make up for in stupidity.

Yeah, until I've ridden TTD, and maybe even after that, MF is the best coaster I've ridden...it's far from boring. I think the purpose of the overbanks is to build on that experience of speed that CP was going for with MF. And we're not the only ones that think our coasters are great, just ask the people who do the golden ticket awards.

Enjoy your ride on the big bad bug

Steelrider33, How are you saying MF is boring. Especially on a CP site. Yes there are other great rides, but for some reason MF was ranked #1.

MF boring...? Yeah... right. If you think MF is boring, what ride do you think are not boring?

I was also disturbed by those comments about MF. As far as I and numerous other coaster enthusiasts are concerned, there is nothing else that measures up to her.
