We arrived at 8:30 am. We entered at 9:00 am. We walked to Dragster.
When I arrived at the station, I took the time to view the ride. The VIP’s were loading up and I waited to see the launch in action before I got in line. All seemed to be running smoothly, until the coaster did not launch. Sure enough, a maintenance working came out carrying a portable car battery jumper!!! A quick jump and the coaster was ready to go!
The first few trains out barely crested the top hat. It was a really fun to try to determine if the coaster was going to make it over the hat. Luckily, or unluckily (I wanted a rollback!!), no rollbacks occurred today.
We got in line a little after 9:15 am and waited for right around 3 hours to ride. We made second seat. What a ride!
When you’re in the queue you know this thing is fast. The drag racing sounds are great. Too bad the Christmas tree wasn’t working and also the smoke from the tire burnout. The only negative I had with the ride was the annoying recording, “Arms down, arms down, arms down….etc…” Come on people, put your stupid arms down (isn’t it obvious after the phrase repeats 8 times???)!!! I guess this isn’t Dragster’s fault.
Once you strap in and the ride attendant forces the restraint down on your legs to the point where you are in pain, you’re ready to go. We crept out to the launch track. We waited, waited, waited, and waited. I took a look over at the hordes of people watching us and couldn’t help but feel important. I was one of the few! I was rider 5007 (according to the picture ;) ).
Finally, the fins retract and you’re off. I don’t remember anything except going up really fast towards the sky, getting a quick look at the lagoon, and twisting back down. After the ride I couldn’t help but scream and clap. My hands hurt like hell and tingled like crazy. I did it. I rode Dragster.
If I was going to rate this ride, it would be an easy 8 out of 10. To give you a comparison, I would give Millennium Force 9 out of 10.
This is one ride that is going to be popular for a long time. I can’t wait to ride it again! Go Green train!
