announcement...

So a park has to shovel out something new every year so you aren't "crapped on"? Man, people are spoiled. Enjoy what's there, I know I do especially at my home park Kennywood. The last major coaster we got was ten years ago. (Not counting the reprofiled SP-PR and the Exterminator)

I want to know how could you say Cedar Point crapped out on us when the 2001 total of additions/improvements is over 40?

Majin Heero, maybe they were having a great enough season in 1999 (economy was at its peak) that they could announce it early and get the word out to 4 months worth of guests to attract them the following year.

It isn't every day that the average Joe sees a 310 ft. coaster...(especially before a giga coaster existed ;))

If you think aboout it MF was introduced in July NOT because the track arrived but because the construction had reached a point CP could not keep it quiet any longer. Remember back to the start of the 1999 season when we noticed the railraod tracks had been moved? At that point CP knew the real reason but gave a good PR line..We wanted our guests to have a better view of the Bay from the train:) Once the construction of MF got to the point there was no hiding it CP had to make the annoucement.

Even though this is Six Flags, SFGAdv. waited until the track was being put together to announce Nitro.  I can't remember at what point of installing the track that they announced it, but it was a LONG time after enthusiasts first heard/saw construction for the new ride.  But an October announcement for CP sounds about right.

When was mantis and raptor announced?
I think Mantis was sometime in 1995 and Raptor in 1993.

Someone needs to call a "wha mulance"...
so many unappreciative people here! If you TRULY love CP (as I do) does it REALLY matter what they are planning for next year? Does it REALLY matter if they do ANYTHING? I'll be there regardless!!
